Spray from a further distance and light coats. You can get this stuff to look like actual tint when you do it right.

Problem is that you are holding it to close when you are spraying.

Did the job, well done. Would love to see another example done using 1. Overlapping (spray 1/3 or so overlap on previous line, never allow overlap to quite reach halfway) 2. Much faster stroke for way lighter coats and higher quantity of coats (dries quicker between coats, and evens out the finish significantly) 3. Spray from roughly 10" from the surface (will help with lighter coats, make overlapping easier, and prevents those gravitational collection streaks) edit - also don't cross-hatch your spray pattern; It seems intuitive that it would look more even but in reality keeping the same stroke pattern ends up looking the most even because it creates less highly contrasted areas by ensuring that the weakest points are still filled in along the same line. The contrast is what looks uneven, retaining stroke pattern prevents that best.

As a tint professional, I really liked this video! Of course it looks bad on the inside but you made it very clear you needed it to serve a purpose and it worked. That CRV back window sucks to tint, most shops would have charged a lot for that. Glad you got a workable result and it looks much better on the outside.

First thing you should always do when spraying coatings out of aerosol cans it's to submerge the cans in hot water for a while to warm them up they will spray much better with lower viscosity

There used to be a product spray on tint. You sprayed a thin layer across the top as it drip down is filled in everything I have been looking for that product I guess they took it off the market it was wonderful you did a good job

Nice I might do this to my truck. I found out the rustoleum lens tint actually would work better because it is thicker then vht nightshade. Cool vid though and window tint is hella expensive these days. At least where I live.

Hold the can farther away and mist it on and you won’t get the streaks in it. It’s thick stuff anyway but if you just mist it on there and use more coats you could probably make it look good.

Vht has window tinting spray. It's not as dark and has a better gloss/clean surface and is more forgiving to spray than night shades

At first, I was like "naw" but after seeing the end result, you might of invented something. However, I would've used plasti dip so I could remove it later down the road. Good experience.

You can get a roll of vivid vinyl tint film for like 15 bucks on Amazon and it's good quality even not knowing how to do tinting u can watch a few utube vids and would get a better outcome , I understand u said u new it would look like crap spray tinting windows but just figured I would throw out the option for a good vinyl tint for cheap lol , looks good from the outside though

Cheap Nail polish remover worked with such ease it removed black tint window paint in my car with no effort at all no one in all the car mechanics on KZfaq even suggest this simple solution

Definitely like good attitude. If I do this I'd like it done for the back window and maybe not spray on the inside at all and see if it's still dark. You can see better than real limo Tints with this so maybe without the indoor tint it can work good.

I used spray window tint back in 1993 on my new S10 king cab. It actually turned out great without any runs or lines. It was still doing well when I traded the truck in 1995.

When done applying the vht nite shades paint do not let Fully cure but wait about 10 mins after last coat and than use a big torch like a plumbers torch and make circles around while window and you will start to see it get shiny and it will smooth and even itself out and than done

when the inside light is on at night, can some see the contents of your vehicle from outside? is it removable?

Got my truck done with night shades but the windows done r insulated so it’s black as black. I went all out 10 layers sorta thing 😅 I wouldn’t advise unless u really want black forever. 😅

You get this to look damn near perfect. You have to decant the cans and spray it from a hvlp gun.

60's to maybe 90's spray on tint was the way to go film tint was still to expensive compared to today's prices

As someone who has done spraypainting as a day job, that is WAAAYYYYY too close for a can. Do it about 10 inches no less than 8 inches and it's best.
