I love it. I’ve lived in a 400sqft apartment. I’ve also lived in a 3400!!!sqft house. I prefer a small space:) Less to clean. No dark empty creepy rooms sitting unused or with pointless furniture.

That is such a beautiful quote and it reminds me of my mom so much. She had the same ethic, everything she touched she made beautiful. It was her life to arrange her surroundings in such a way that you were enveloped by an environment of peace and curiosity. It's so nice to see a YT video of a tiny/small home that actually feels like a home ~ unpretentious, relaxed, lived-in & loved. Charming, yet real life stuff. 😊👍 (My 1st apartment was similar; a tiny 1920s cottage about half the size of this house. It only had one small clothes closet, too. Everything else was stored out in the open, so I bought items, usually thrifted, that were functional but pretty. Forty+ years later, still have two $1 Woolworth fruit embossed coffee mugs & a small set of Italian hand painted Fortunoff dishes that I used daily back then. They were a splurge at $2-$3 a piece, on clearance. They're chipped & crazed now, but kept to remind me where I came from.)

I agree, wonderful, a tiny house as my retirement (and ongoing) house is my dream. One thought: where you have the full length mirror, I'd consider building in a full length closet, with a mirror on the door. Even something 12" -15" deep would accommodate some coats, dresses etc, and maybe allow a big shelf above for non-seasonal things. A good handyperson could offer suggestions.

According to us Europeans, your house is not tiny, it's a normal size, it's bigger than my very old stone house here in the mountains in central Italy! It's just an American obsession with size, huge houses, huge burgers, huge coffee cups, huge car! Just crazy! 😱

I’m an US American and it’s so true. I hate it. I think it’s partly because the country is so big to begin with that there is room for things to be so big, but it’s a disgusting mindset for the environment etc.

Gosh, I miss my mom so much. I am lucky enough to have a few notes and cards from my mom. I love to look at her handwriting and it just makes me feel close to her even though she is no longer here :)

I feel the same way as both of you about my cherished pieces of mom’s handwriting including the last card I got from her before she died rather unexpectedly (17 years ago, at 67. I’m 61 now.) I could 100% live in this space! My apartment is 465 sq ft and I do just fine in it. Love all of your artwork and your mom was truly beautiful. The lockets from her are so gorgeous. I love the dried flowers from your garden and all of the windows/light you get! Bosley is adorable! I think I'd part the greens by the sleeping area so he could see outside though. I live in a studio apt about the size of your home. Yes I can so relate the limited storage in a tiny home. But I’ve learned to adapt to what I have and love it. I’m now doing makeovers in my home. Nothing like the joys of living in a tiny home. Yours is so cozy I love it.

I am British and grew up in a very working class industrial northern town. Our house growing up was a victorian 2 up 2 down with an outside toilet! It was how people live where i am from, cheek by jowl. I now live in The Netherlands and still live in a small house but with 3 bedrooms and 2 inside toilets ( luxury). That is the most open, spacious feeling and warmest, homey and cozy "tiny" home I have seen in all the years I have been viewing Tiny homes on You tube presentations ! I LOVE IT.

Thank you so much Elaine! I've been addicted to tiny house videos for years as well...there are some amazing ones out there! Considering this was not build with storage or function in mind, I find it suprisingly workable. I definitely lack ceiling height...but maybe the windows and sunlight makes up for that somewhat. 🙏🏠❤️

Hi Tamara! I live in a tiny house too with limited storage. I put a dresser in my living room for clothes and hung the tv up on the wall above it. Made it few more breathable. :) I love your cottage you did a great job it’s super cozy

This is my first visit to your channel, and I was delighted to see your beautiful cottage and how you have utilized the space. It reminds me of the one bedroom apartment I had before remarrying. My sofa was a hide-a-bed for family visits and my bedroom was large enough for my sewing area where I made six bridesmaid dresses when my daughter got married. But I was so content there, and grew flowers on my little patio and had a swing, too. Now I have a small room for my quilting, hubby has a tiny office, and guests stay in the finished basement. But we still keep things as simple as possible. We open all the blinds as soon as we get up. We have a swing in back and a glider in front. And yet someday we will probably downsize as we are getting older and health issues arise, but it will be beautiful, too. You have made this season of your life full of beauty and thoughtfulness and light and love. Thank you for sharing. I look forward to viewing your videos and especially a summer tour! Blessings!!!

Tamara....I think I grew up close to where you live. it's crazy to think, back in the day, people would travel 30 mins for their weekend getaways. I adore your home....its definitely a hidden gem. Its heartbreaking to see they have torn so many of these cottages down to build these outrageous size homes. I have not ventured far....I now live on the most western part of the lake.

Hey Neighbor! I have lived in the area all my life as well..and yes, SO sad to see the charming cottages replaced with ridiculously huge mansions. If I ever win the lottery, I'll buy a huge lake mansion and knock it down and build a perfect small house. ❤️

Once you are this age you really know what you love and what is important to you! This leaves room for the things you want to do without the extraneous matter!! I live in 900 sq feet, with my husband, and I am still constantly purging from downsizing more than 10 years ago!!! So much stuff that has no meaning needs to go..........

I adore your home! It is so charming. I have been thinking about selling my home, putting the money away and renting for a while until I decide what to do next. I have power tools and love to DIY and would love to find something like this. I really don't need a big space anymore. This gives you the freedom to live close to the area you love and living small would keep me focused on only keeping/gathering what I love. I so enjoyed this. Thank you. -Sue from MI

I loved this awesome tour - I always wondered about (& admired) your cozy-looking place. It looks so familiar to me cuz I have the same layout in my NYC studio! I so envy your closeness to the beach/lake & the big sunny windows & cute garden. But you might envy my sweeping city view & 5 closets & marble bathroom sink. I have a dishwasher I never use, so you’re not missing anything there. Living in a small place, you learn quickly you can’t be a saver/pack-rat & life is a constant swirl of purging, right? 😉

Thank you so much...I am so glad you enjoyed the tour! For sure constant purging and editing! I love NYC...My cousin had a tiny place for years in the East Village and I visited many times. (she now lives in Up State and I love visiting her there as well!). How wonderful to have sweeping city views and closets and beautiful finishes and a studio that was actually DESIGNED to maximize space. Your home sounds wonderful! ❤️

Your house is just so cute and cozy. I love all the windows. I had to downsize and live in a 490 sq, ft. Apartment. I only have one window in my bedroom. I do have a closet which is jam packed. You did a nice job decorating.
