A tiny flat in Shanghai with a bed placed right behind the toilet was rented out for US$40 a month by a food delivery driver on the same day it was listed.

Try finding a better spot for $40 in Canada or USA. I doubt it. It may seem trash to many, but when you have NO options and then see this, this is literally a life saver.

not that bad, furnish it a bit and keep it clean then its fine. put some kind of a curtain before the bed as a wall to block the toilet view. decorate the toilet walls with greeneries and pretend you're living in the ghibli world.

Tbh its not bad as long as you cover the bedside with plastic cover to prevent the odor from entering. I think the bigger concern is what happens when the toilet isn't working...

What city is it? The only thing is to the bed. You have to slide past the toilet. It would better if the toilet is not in front of the bed. Maybe add a door or something in between the toilet and the bed.

I feel incredibly blessed to be renting an entire house (2 bedrooms) with a front yard and garage for only 100 USD. Remarkably, the landlord has not raised the rent in the nine years I've been here. Despite being located within a city here in the Philippines, I appreciate the affordability and stability of my living situation.

I am not shocked because housing is expensive everywhere and many a times people spend outrageous amounts just to live in a tiny box. Even with that tiny space the builder could have done things a little differently and that space could have looked a little better.

I would and could live in a place like that. Ive lived in worse places. Well i was homeless and slept in old cars, alleys, spider infested areas, cold wet places, where ya hope ya had the card board to lay down on top of the wet duscusting floor. To some people that would be a 5 star hotel!!❤

Well if the bed was at least on a height it would have been OK. But then the whole appartment is beneath the stairs, so you can't raise the height of the bed.

But its tragic and evil that the u.s. supposedly the wealthiest nation in the world is unconcerned about the millions of impoverished homeless citizens sleeping in dangerous tent cities or under bridges throughout the country.
