I think once you have been homeless like I was a 9yrs of age a little girl, with my mother you understand how wonderful it is that something like this has come about.That was back in 1963, but the park bench was cold and lonely....(Not in America), but nevertheless homeless and scared. I LOVE THIS PROJECT. No human being should ever be homeless!!!

this reminds me of when i was 7 and jimmy carter was president. we lived in a duplex that shared a porch with the unit next door. they had a little girl not yet 18 months old. they taught her that her diaper was a pocketbook and they would sneak up behind her and put wet leaves down the front of her diaper and tell her jimmy carter did it. she would scream STOP JIMMY CARTER and rip her diaper off then they would laugh hysterically. they did it until she was exhausted from screaming. then they taught her to cuss. they told her that as long as she danced jimmy carter would not come and get her. she danced on that front porch all the time. they told her if she would cuss jimmy carter from the porch he would not come and get her. she spent so much time holding onto the bars of the porch railing like she was in jail and cussing jimmy carter as loudly as she could. the neighbors all hated her. the year they told her jimmy carter not santa was bringing the presents she went to bed crying and saying she did not want anything. it got to where if you just said his name she would start screaming and run hide in the bushes. it was a long 4 years for her.

It is a good idea to find out WHY? It is a prison planet, humanity has been enslaved for EON due to the limitation of their own MIND. They are paying for their own slavery while EVERYTHING should have been FREE as SOME HUMAN are literally the SOURCE provider to fuel this twice inverted PATRIX.
@ralphg2771

While I agree, there are stipulations for living in said homes, such as one cant be on the sex offender registry. This makes absolutely no sense since everyone is an adult. And keeping said people homeless, only will make things worse. It's like it's ok to slit a guys throat while in the process of robbing him over $5, but to go down for a sec crime? They deserve nothing..............

You can build for about $10 a square foot for a shell like these. Your price may vary based on location. They are setting these on slabs which is totally unnecessary and adds several hundred dollars per house. 20 or 30 bucks worth of concrete blocks is all that's needed and adds to the portability.
@newdogatplay
@newdogatplay 4 жыл бұрын
I don't kno wat the cost per building is but to have a dry place insulated and dry as well as access for emergency personal and equipment that can get to every unit with hydrants and electrical, it is going to cost more then just a shell of a storage bldg,plus as for the slabs it's necessary to keep rodents and bugs to a min,with people living in them ,,I've watched several videos on homeless camps and tiny house neighborhoods and all of the above is mentioned on them in different ways in Oregon they have a similar set up and it's all on a old black top lot and with rain water running over it as well as rats an such it is all talked about in that video ,,I can't recall the name of the video or the actual twn,but it's on here youtube

It's a hand up, not a hand out. A few years here to clean up, find a job and rebuild your life is all most people need. The natural progression of people is upwards, it takes actively applied circumstances for people give up and accept a life on the streets if they are of sound mind. Villages for ex con's is also needed but segregated by levels of offenses and appropriately distanced from vulnerable area's.

Must be so lovely to have a door you can shut and feel secure for once I imagine. Its a discrace that America , one of the richest countries on the planet has homeless people in the first place. Its the same here in the UK. Veterans that risked their lives for their country , now kicked to the kurb. We all need to rethink how society works. A society should be judged on how well it looks after the most vulnerable people amongst it. Brilliant idea however, thats sure to save peoples lives by keeping people safe and out of the cold. Well done to everyone involved.

Diane Blaylock they are required to get jobs. The purpose is to help them get in their feet, not allow them to remain homeless. These organizations assist them with Writing resumes and job hunting. They don’t allow them to stay unemployed. Otherwise your going to end up with a tiny slum. That’s why there will be around the clock staff monitoring the grounds. They want to make sure there are no drug transactions and other unorthodox behavior. Some of these people pick up poor habits living in the streets for so long & have mental illness issues. Hope they do this across the country.

In days an gone past I had the 4,000 square foot $750,000 house. An acre of land to take care of. 10 horses in the backyard. Over $5,000 a month just to cover the basics. Now I live in a 36-foot fifth wheel trailer, I find it very satisfying, I have a bedroom big enough to sleep in queen size bed. I've got a full-size kitchen. Complete bathroom with 38 inch corner shower. Large overstuffed couch and a 55 inch television. I'm in San Diego County California, I pay $650 a month rent and utilities, living a wonderful RV Village with a swimming pool, laundry facilities, Rec house with pool table, and wonderful neighbors who look out for each other. I now consider this the American dream personified.

$50 per month? Too much. Solar heating and cooling. A solar water heater and Rain water capture barrels would make the cost of utilities negligible. FoodCorps could start Veggie gardens. Good Food is a method to rebuild health.

This would be an ideal solution for Seattle. Last I heard the Mayor wanted to spend $45 on 1960's style Tennament buildings. Remember the kind in Chicago, five years after they were built they were covered in Graffiti with all the drug dealers etc. moved in. After about 10 years they all needed to be bulldozed.

I've heard about so many of these Tiny House communities that are specifically for the homeless. There's one in Madison, WI that is doing so well. It has strict rules and regulations in order to be placed in one of the homes--things like staying clean and sober, actively looking for employment, no wild parties or disturbances. They provide a community center to help with things like getting people their GED, applying to colleges, applying for jobs. They teach job skills, and they work with a company that will provide business attire so people can look professional when they interview. They also have a store so people who make crafts can sell them. It's a win/win situation.

We need to see this in each city...in each state! This would end homelessness...if it was every where!!

As one woman who had been living on the street said..."Just to be able to be safe...lock your door when you sleep and not have to carry everything you own with you when you have to leave your space". It has to be horrible, especially for women or anyone with a child to protect. Thank God for these.
