I really like this show but I wanted more dances and less student teacher relationships. Plus they kept focusing on different characters which was weird. We were supposed to focus on the new girl and the girl who had an accident (it's been a while since i finished the show i forgot the names) and suddenly we keep focusing on the blonde girl and they randomly put Oren and the new girl together - which is appreciated - but just came out of nowhere since there was barely any chemistry or scenes with them together except the dances

Neveah ( the new girl ) and Oren literally only had 1 chemestry scene in the first 2 or 3 episodes, then they get together literally out of nowhere and he saays 'i love you'? like i really like them together but the entire series plot is a whole mess

Tbh I think a lot of tge new couples came just together out of nowhere. I mean I really understand Bette and her bf and Shane and his but June and Nabile just felt really random to me since he was head over heels for Cassie the whole time and suffering. But I get that June might had a crush on him becauze he was always comforting her. Although it would have made more sense to me if Nabile would come together with Neveah. Also I feel like Oren is just looking for some kind of appreciation from the outside while having a serious problem with his self-concept. For me it feels like Neveah is just a rebound for him and he is really hard grieving over Bette since he clearly really loved her. It just seems so toxic to me. I really hope that Oren will see a therapist in season 2 and take a break from relationships to focus on himself.

The fast paced relation dynamics happened because they tried to compress a whole book in just a few episodes. So, they did lack there..as viewers dont get to see how each relationship was built. Also, ofcourse they had to show each character's story..as it ultimately built towards the whole event. the story wasnt abt the new girl n the girl involved in accident alone. The story was abt each of these dancers and their point of view. Just like many other shows do..elite, euphoria, skins, skam, etc. I think the show would hv been better if they hadn't had the need to showcase all the original relationships they had in the book. Otherwise the show was fabulous..with all the dance sequences n dancer's povs. Also, the teacher student relationship might be a lil uncomfortable, but it is a reality in the industry. Many other problems are correctly depicted

Agreed. I also wish that the show would focus more on the pressures that ballet students go through in trying to land roles in ballet shows. The first season did hint at one of the boys (I can't remember the characters' names either since there are too many in the show to keep track of) being bulimic so that he can try to look skinny enough to get the lead role, which we don't often hear about happening to men as well as women, so bringing awareness of that is definitely important (without trying to trigger anyone who's anorexic or bulimic into doing that to themselves, of course). Other than that, the show hasn't really brought enough attention to those kinds of dark realities behind the scenes in the ballet industry.

I did enjoy the show but I have a question. Aren't they minors? Why are they constantly having sex and going on dates with adults? I think that's a little confusing and disturbing.

Yeah most of the nightmare scenes were cringy. The acting in those scenes wasn’t great. Also they would have been better if they embraced the horror aspect of it more and had some good visual effects or sfx makeup.

I added the show to my list immediately after watching the trailer for the first time and now I've finished five episodes,still waiting for something exciting to happen. Edit: The show was a mess in general with a lot going on and music after every two seconds and everyone having sex with everyone but the last two episodes were actually nice lol. The ending was pretty good.

I just finished the series and really liked it. I prefer it to the book because we see so many characters' pov, not just the main 3. And there's so much drama! Still kind of confused about Caleb's decision to stand by Monique though. Compared to the books, other reasons I like this drama include: 1) We see our main three characters allying themselves more than once! In the books, they didn't really hang out as much. 2) I like Cassie's boyfriend in the show. He has a whole other personality in the books. 3) Cassie's character is given more depth. 4) I don't know why but I just like Neveah's character more than Gigi's. Perhaps because she is the one leading the charge to stand up for what is right. I really wish there was a season 2. Shiny Broken Pieces! A girl can dream. I am really glad I bought the books (the stories are really good), because it led me to discover this show. I recommend reading the books first though.

I've been wondering if this is worth watching. I got a full ride dance scholarship for pointe to my 2nd choice college but got a devastating, life changing knee injury 2 months before my first semester was supposed to start.
