Predating his adventures as an adult vine-swinger, this animated feature has awkward teenager Tarzan (Harrison Chad) searching for an identity when he realizes that he's out of place among the apes that have raised him. He ventures out into the jungle and imitates a series of other animals to see if they might be better role models. This approach does not succeed. It's only when he meets a reclusive ape (George Carlin) that his journey toward self-discovery nears its destination.

Tarzan 2 is a decent Disney sequel imo. Not really one that I revisit too often, but I like the overall plot of young Tarzan discovering who he is.🙂

Honestly The Title Tarzan 2 is a bit misleading considering it takes place before the Og movie it’s mostly a Prequel and for what it is it’s a small yet somewhat enjoyable not even close to the OG but it doesn’t have to be and it’s already better than 90% of the Disney Straight to Dvd sequels

There are some references to the first movie that either stook with Tarzan to an adult or just some scenes in general. Like how when Kala was trying to protect baby Tarzan from Sabora (Leopard), he hits her and she "loses" Tarzan, same way she gets hit by a branch and actually loses Tarzan in the 2nd one. And her reaching for him like she did in the same scene. Tarzan in the waterfall and making inventions of course. Tantor hearing Tarzan from far away as a kid and adult, along with him and Turk going to save him. The montage of Tarzan running away and Son of Man, like the Bird and him jumping/moving around. How he pushes the ape off the cliff with just one finger, just like how he pushes Jane to prevent her from falling during their first greetings. The moving through the branches and the yell at the end obviously.

I watched this when I was little so I haven't seen it for a while, but watching it now again, this movie is still pretty good and the animation quality Is almost as good as the first movie! Im Glad you watched this too because I wasn't sure you would.

I really love Tarzan 2, and I think it's the only good disney sequel. Also Zugor is my favorite character in this movie, he really feels like my spirit animal, intact the best character in the history of disney in my opinion. I really wish Zugor appeared in the Ice Age movies along with the Rio movies, since I think he would've made a great character in those movies.

I love this prequel right up there with Bambi 2. As an animal lover I’ve always laughed at Tarzan trying to become an ape when he already is one. Granted the other animals don’t know that but it’s still funny. The soundtrack not as spectacular as the first movie are still great. I do recommend checking out Bambi 2 it has Patrick Stewart as the Great Prince.

Fun fact: Tarzan appeared in Kingdom Hearts 1 as a visit able world know as deep jungle which KH1 is the only game of the kingdom hearts franchise to feature Tarzan which the world never return again in other kingdom hearts games do to Disney loosing the rights to Tarzan which there now own by Edgar Rice Burroughs Inc

I love the first Tarzan movie so much, so I was nervous about the quality of this prequel, but this one was a nice surprise in that it wasn't that bad (for a Disney direct-to-video sequel anyway). Yeah the animation is definitely better than in Tarzan and Jane.

Well, some Disney movies are presented as a second one despite it's not a sequel but a movie taking place in the first at one moment of the life of the hero. We have a serie of movie like that in France

Good reaction. What I like about this film is the details of the obstacles Tarzan faces growing up. Although I think they should probably entitled it Tarzan: The Beginning or maybe Tarzan 1/2 just for the timing of the story. I don’t know if you knew, but there was a stage adaption of the first film and features some original songs as well as the ones from film. I highly recommend you check out the soundtrack as well as the live action film The Legend of Tarzan. Also I’m excited to see you react to The Lion King. Although I would follow the film series in this exact order: The Lion King, The Lion King 1 1/2, and The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride. 💚🤎💛🧡❤️

The first book actually goes into that a lot in the first act. He's weaker than the apes and the males abuse him so by the time he's a teenage he's all scars and muscle, and so he ultimately ends up being ungodly strong. It's his ingenuity and greater level intelligence that makes him valuable and depose Kerchak as king.
