I worked as a crew member on the set of the movie BLOOD HARVEST. Tiny Tim was the biggest name involved in the production but he treated everyone as they were his friends. Never once did he act like he was above everyone. When I first met him, I was star struck but he made me feel like I was just as big a star as he. May he R.I.P

I met Tiny in 1966 what he was playing the club called Steve Paul Scene in Manhattan doing two shows every night whenever there was live music opening for whoever the act was. It's hard to remember but I think he was playing there for seems like a couple of years might not have been that long but I sure remember spending a lot of time with him. We became friends and he was one of the sweetest people, man or woman I ever knew. You sure hit the nail on the head how you described him hey what's that 30 years after I met him and he hadn't changed one bit since I knew him even with all the fame he had which I would expect from Tiny. I just finished watching a couple of his videos and every time I watch him and hear him sing he always puts a smile on my face. RIP my friend.

Look at the genuine joy on his face while listening to these children perform. The man spent his whole life becoming a walking encyclopedia of Tin Pan Alley and Vaudeville style music. He put his put own little twist on those tunes, created an eccentric public persona to catch attention, and the world was once again introduced to these forgotten tunes because of his work. His fifteen-minutes of fame ended nearly twenty five years before this video was made, yet through his efforts, there's a new generation singing these songs some seventy years after they were popular. I guess you could say it's almost like watching a proud father. At least that's my take on it. I know the story of his very last performance was very sad. I figured the least I could to was play "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" for my first dance at my wedding to let him know, wherever he is, that some of us haven't forgotten him.

I believe this video is taken at Ruby Van Meter Elementary in Des Moines. There is a banner that says Ruby Van Meter Vikings just behind Tiny Tim's head when he is sitting. Also RVM is a special needs school, which would explain the large around for children in wheel chairs. Also toward the end the camera operator says "Say Hi to the people in Ames" and his response "I had a wonderful WHEN I was there" makes it sound like he is not in Ames but that the camera operator is from Ames. I saw this on Reddit and it was labeled that it took place in Ames but it did not.

In 1969 in England, I took him a song I thought would suite him in George Formby Style. He insisted that I bring in everything I had written up tpo that time, all on reel to reel tape..He was planning to marry Miss Vickie on the Johnny Carson show later that year,He took a ballad I had written, which I felt would be a Sinatra type ballad THE MISSING THINGS,He liked it as it had a few lines that, coming from him were surreal.WITH YOU TIGHT BY MY SIDE I'M SUPERMAN.FEEL LIKE I'M WALKINN ON AIR LIKE PETER PAN.etc Not only did he sing it on Carson the week before the wedding,Dec 12th 1969,but he actually rang me in UK ttwice to thank me on that same night. I found him perfectly normal. He spoke normally, had a four octave voice, played uke tight handed quite well, but on stage played left handed. All his weirdness was his gimmick, after having struggled for years to harness his amazing knowledge of early 20s music in order to make a living. He was much more talented musically than non musicians might think, but hid behind his money making formula.Sad !If anyone saw him sing my song or recorded it do let me know.
