It is so rare that I see an authentic aged dollhouse filled with lovely old things. And it is not a fancy museum piece, children have actually owned and played with this house. It is soo beautiful and you have made a great job with cleaning and redecorating it ❤ Beautiful video also, so relaxing, great job thank you for sharing.

Ladies, the copper bowl on legs that you said “you never knew what it was” is actually an old world Sicilian piece called a brascera and it was the best way to warm up a room if there was no fireplace. It was a basin made of copper and brass (or iron), inside which the embers were placed so that it gave heat and spread it throughout the room. Sicilians would refer to it as a conca.. With regards to your beautiful whimsical dolls house, it’s has been a treat to watch you both delight in its restoration…you both possess the gift of story telling, your imaginations brimming and alive, the artistry directly from your hearts, completely tangible and resulting in a symphony of visual beauty, always accompanied by quaint melodious well chosen music. Watching your videos, one is left in a complete state of relaxation. What a gorgeous pair you are, generously gifting your remarkable talents to us all. We, your viewers are blessed to witness the bond and loving amicability you both share. Best wishes for all future endeavours…from me, Aurora 😊

I appreciate that you look at your dollhouses through a child's eyes! A child would have used bits and bobs from around the house to decorate so items would not be completely "in scale". A house this age would have naturally aged- furniture and linens would have faded, pots and pans rusted. Have you ever considered doing a tour of your home?!?! I would imagine you have some amazing decor!

My grandfather who built my Aunt a doll house when she was small. I played with it as a child. Back then it was pretty shabby but still.loved. My grandmother got cancer when I was 20 and my Aunt and grandmother started repairing it. My grandmother was very ill and helped sew new sofa covers, blankets and such. It was hard losing my Gran but I know that spending time with her daughter and talk of times past helped the time she pass the time she had. My Aunt took the doll house home for grand daughter. I hope it gets passed to her daughter and so on. I love that you are restoring this dollhouse., and keeping a lot of the original detail. ❤❤❤

I am in the middle of watching your video and I just had to stop and make a few comments, one is how wonderful to get a old doll house and the furnishings. The cloves are great because they were used to keep bugs and mice out of the doll house, often moms would make little satchels like pillows filled with herbs and such not just to keep things smelling fresh bug to keep critters out of things, it was a discreet way of doing things. Thanks to you ladies I have reconnected with the miniature world! I have looked up so many videos on making miniature furniture and dishes, food and housing I am so astonished how much is out there that can be made so easily and cheaply! I grew up with brothers who built model cars and planes and trains and to this day my eldest brother makes dioramas for his models and has a group on FB but he didn't do like doll house miniatures, but like train sets and building to scales so It is a new addition to learning miniatures that I am grateful for. I sadly admit I never had my own dolls as a child, It was tough in those days. So this could be in a way making up for things now as a adult. :) Bless you both!

I could listen to and watch you two all day long! Kindred spirits I feel I am with you both. Vintage dollhouses, filled with sweet vintage, played-with treasures - it is the epitome of happiness, coziness and time well spent on heartfelt moments and hours. The music you have in the background is so soothing as well. I’m working on a vintage Triang now, as well as a vintage GeeBee. In the US, these, as well as anything 1:16 scale is near impossible to find. eBay is good, of course, but shipping isn’t always a service offered from the seller and then, sometimes when shipping is available, the cost is often hard to justify (an item that sells for $5 and shipping is $26!). Yet, I am grateful to be able to see treasures even if I can’t always purchase as I dream! ❤️ Continued joy to you both. Thanks for all your amazing videos! Kathleen

Removing the paper might cause damage to the wood due to its age, so I think that you did the best thing. What I like about these vintage/antique houses is that you don't pay much attention to scale - if it fits, or looks right, you just pop it in. With modern dh's and miniatures, so much of it revolves around getting the scale right. With the living room, I think it's a case of having too many miniatures and not enough room for them all.
@maroulio2067
@maroulio2067 5 ай бұрын
Yes about scale- I use what I love and really like the fun and fantasy look of different scaled items in dolls' houses. That is the original way the Duch cabinet houses looked, and also many wealthy collectors today do the same. (I am a low income person but love studying the history of dolls' houses, and have many small items in my bookcase- wish I could have a house for them)

I LOVE this! It is beautiful and the fact that it is so full of precious things makes it even more so. I'm so glad that you didn't choose to "false" age the planters because they will be a wonderful addition to the true history of this house...90 years from now they will have aged naturally and they will be the addition to her history that you have added. So well done, ladies! (Google the doll house of "Dr Ruth" and you will see another full and beautifully mis-matched dollhouse. Phooey to the ones who want you to make things look new and less embellished!)

🎉what a beautiful old house. I have an old house that I brought 2nd hand at a boot fair for £50 about 30 ish years ago. It's story unknown when I got it but its obviously handmade .its huge and 1 of our cats had her kittens in the lounge room. She had 5 kittens we found her a cosy bigger box but she would insist taking her babies back to the house lil monkey but in the end we left her to it. Lol then our other cat had her kittens in our bathroom as the kittens got mobile 1 of them managed to fall in the toilet so we had to keep him poor little thing we warmed towels in the drier and I named him louie I thought that fitting as he fell in the loo so the rest of all the babies were rehomed. I'm going to call the house kittens lodge and hopefully write a story about it .what do you think? Xx

Excellent work. I loved when you did the living room, moving everything back and forth, over and over. It reminded me of the Borrowers when they moved into the cottage in the model village and Homily had Pod move everything over and over until she thought it was just right and Pod told her that it was all back to where it had started!. Looking forward to the next stage of the Borrowers' clock house, and also the 1940''s house. Just a thought though, that a lot of the things they had would have probably have been obtained in the 30's, if not earlier.

Keeping its character and charm...without all the dusty grime. How adorable did the house look at the end. I too loved those hand made dolls. How lovely they are. I also loved the little chinese dolls you sat on the stairs. Awe and little fancy pants. I'm glad you saved those. They made me giggle. A perfect home, full of food, flowers and pets to cuddle, plus comfy beds to rest in. That was so enjoyable to watch. Thank you. 😊 xxx

You have such soothing voices and personalities_ purest of gems. Beautiful restoration, gorgeous cat. Look forward to the day Kate gets her real life country cottage and starts to decorate it. Hope I survive to see it.

That weird lamp also looks like the Moroccan lamp souvenir eccentric Uncle Henry gave my grandparents from one of his journeys. Didn't go with anything else but we all loved it.

This is just a wonderful video, I redress unwanted/unloved porcelain dolls. The majority of the work I do is assembly and hand-sewn clothing The period I focus on is the European Renaissance 1500-1600. Total respect for all the time and love you put into cleaning and restoring this doll house to a better condition. Dust is much more damaging than many people think to collectibles. My husband and I have many and we have plans for many curio cabinets for my dolls and his miniature armies. It's lovely to see the Doll's House being treasured, well done!

I have always wanted a doll house to restore. This is also so very touching thinking about the original little girl that must have adored her beautiful little play things. I remember that wax being called Mr. Mole’s Sticky Wax. I prefer things being homemade and they don’t have to be to scale. It’s fun to be inventive and use your imagination.

I love that you leave how the home is when you adopt it alone. You clean and preserve and protect. And I love how you fill the houses with found and loved and worn pieces. And scale doesn’t matter. Your style in decorating is my favorite. A legacy dollhouse. I love that. I adopt and find the unloved doll houses too. Or people’s dollhouses that nobody in their family wants. I love this house so much!

Oh my goodness, ladies!! I'm totally amazed at the beauty you have produced, as well as the fun you had doing it. As much as I love the master bedroom, I'm going to agree with Fleur and say the room with flowers and tea party is my favorite. But I love it ALL!!! Take care, be safe in your travels and always stay true to yourselves. Love ya!!
