At first I wasn't a fan of the Fallkniven Dc4 sharpening stone. I am not a big fan of diamond stones and the stone was a little small for my fat fingers. After cutting the tip of my thumb off I put it aside and gave it some thought for a while. The stone sharpens well but it needed a holder. So I put something really simple together and it works great

Thanks man. I made this a few years ago and I still use it. Really handy, easy to pack and it's a complete kit to handle all your sharpening in the field.

That is a great little rig. I have an Arkansas stone exactly like that that I don't use because it's so small. I am going to make myself one of those and probably pick up a dc4 to go with it. thanks

Awesome video brother, nice work. Sorry about the Bay being taken over. Lac Des Mille Lac on weekends is like a City on ice, it gets crazy. Our Scout Troop will be out there end of January or first of February to do some ice fishing.

my suggestion would be to make a small wooden box instead of a wooden block with a cutout, that way you can have a lid on the top (small side) and can carry it securely with no elastic needed

Mark Young I love this setup. I ordered a Water stone and when it arrived it came damaged and they sent the wrong grit. the 8000 was more coarse than my 3000. so I needed to come up with a solution. The dc4 paired with the arkansas stone get my knives sharper than ever after a quick strop. I have been sharpening all the knives in the house the last few days. lol it is just really easy to use. I think you will enjoy it. Good idea ordering the cc4. The dc4's diamond side seems to wear out fast. I won't think it will last very long. Happy new year my friend

Adventure Time Outdoors will do! I want to make a 6" or 8" with a 1X8 piece of cedar I got from the jobsite recently... need to find the right stone but gonna get some leather from hobby lobby and at least make the strop board for now... this video make me realize I should make room for a stone on the other side.. brilliant!

You cut your self because you were sharpening towards your self. 15 degree angle, edge facing away from you and drag the back of the knife towards you.

Great idea. Light weight. I have some small diamond stones that this idea will fix. Smiths Honing solution cleans stones pretty well and it is not oil based. Thank you for the video, and I hope the idiots leave and your fish come back.

Kijika Life lol to be honest you are supposed to use oil on it but I don't. I just spit on it from time to time. I have given up on oil all together. Most of the time I use water and a few drops of Dawn or Palmolive dish soap. I find it less messy and doesn't clog up the stone and keeps it cutting nicely. Anyway it works for me. Thanks for stopping by. Take care Mark

The little white one I got with a Smith's sharpening stone. The others I ordered from aliexpress or amazon. I will have to go back and see if i can find where I bought them. It was years ago and the memory is failing me at the moment. The white stone was a fine Arkansas stone. The other is some other kind of stone with a 3000 and 10000 grit

If you are looking for a great stone that will fit s kit like this get the cc4 from felknivin. It is far superior to the dc4 in my opinion. I use it regularly and get a hair popping sharp knife with very little effort. I bought mine at bushcraftcanada.com

How do you think those guys found the spot? Saw you from the road?
@AdventureTimeOutdoors
@AdventureTimeOutdoors 7 жыл бұрын
Bradley Rasmussen somebody marked it as a hot spot on navionics. but it could be they saw people fishing there and tried it out. every year there are more and more people in that Bay. It just sucks that some greedy people found it. I have a few secrets up my sleeve. Hopefully the takers don't fide them
