I don't think young people realize how huge Don Johnson was in the 80s. Miami Vice was a breakout hit in the 80s and Don Johnson was a style and fashion icon and the absolute epitome of cool in the decade. I mean, this guy had the whole country walking around in blazers with tees-paired with pleated light slacks and slip on deck shoes with no socks to fight crime and lived on a boat with a pet crocodile. Wada show. Wada time to be alive. 80s bby here.

One of the more down-to-earth and likable families in Hollywood IMO. Although Melanie was born into the business via her mother, she's always struck me as a smart, reasonable person; Don meanwhile is really just a small-town farm boy from Kansas who came from nothing. They strike me as relatively normal people who have worked for what they have, and that sense of groundedness is evident in Dakota's personality.

Let's just say Melanie Griffith and I ran into each other. She was driving Don Johnson's Porsche, and in the car too was a very young Dakota Johnson. She was emotionally distressed and I had to calm her down. Since I was on my way to church, anyway, I told her I was going to pray for her and she managed to give me a brave smile. Moving right along she arranged to have our cars fixed and we went our separate ways. I still think about her from time to time and pray for her and her family.

And even though he's done A LOT of work since "Miami Vice" (yes I've seen his other work), his performance as James Sonny Crockett had the biggest impact on me as a young actor. Before I became a Denzel Washington enthusiast in 1990 (at age 14), my best dramatic acting instructor was Don Johnson.

I saw Don Johnson being driven out of the building where they were doing indoor filming that day with his partner from Miami Vice Philip Michael Thomas.My Mom and I waited for hours until they were finished filming. We were the only two people out there since no one knew where they were that day.I spent hours cleaning my rental Monte Carlo with blue diamond metallic paint so it looked good.Of course I was all dressed up in a white lace top and skirt. One of the security people took our names and brought out autographed pictures with our names on them.We did see them leaving in a limo.I stood on the sidewalk in shock.It was an experience I will never forget.Miami Vice was my favorite TV show.Just love those guys!

I met tippi Hedren in Vietnam late 1966 or early 1967. I was a combat Corpsman ( doc) with k co 3/1 Marines when I was shot on a patrol. After time in the hospital,then rehab. I was transferred from direct combat to working with c charley Med in chu Ali. She was with another beautiful tv star,johniie grant and tippi. I got a hug and a autographed picture which I still have. Tippi you still look as beautiful as you were 53 years ago.By the way my name is Robin Williams,no joke. I now live in southern Oregon.
