I am not a "working man." and I did not spend my life doing hard physical labor, However, I grew up on a farm and I did my share of manure shoveling, critter chasing, hay baling, rock picking, and the like. I am now a retired public school teacher, and I worked very hard at that. Now I am old, kinda broke down, and tired, but I still work every day. Every morning when my feet hit the floor, I think about my tasks for the day and say to myself, "You gotta get it started if you wanna get it down." If I need some motivation, I pull up this song and listen to it. It never fails to get me moving. Thank you, Aaron Tippin.

Show the 25 year old how you do it, and maybe the young workers won't be so bad. I understand some don't give a shit and just want to show up to work to get money instead of work, but as someone who's starting out, and wanting to learn more about my trade, I ain't got time for snobby old timers who won't share information but wanna complain about the help quality!

Aaron is one of the NICEST PEOPLE I have ever met!!! I first met him during his USO tour BEFORE his first album was released while serving in OPERATION DESERT STORM. Since then I have run into Aaron more times than I can count, literally. I have shared many meals with him and a few with his son. He is EXTREMELY approachable and always takes time to meet people, shake hands, sign autographs, take pictures, and pray with any who ask. After I got out of the Marine Corps and started trucking I ran into Aaron at Mont Eagle Truck Stop. I was taking a quick break on a rainy, foggy night/morning. Aaron and a bunch of country stars came into the restaurant. There were 6 people in the place before they came in. When I saw him I smiled a little remembering the concert he did for the troops. He walked right up to me, put his hand out, and said "Glad to see you made it home alright.". I asked him if he k e who I was or if he was saying that because of my haircut. He told he EXACTLY where and when he met me and basically what we said to one another. I was floored. Then Aaron called the others over to personally introduce them to me. I hauled cars for a living. Almost 20 years, and met a hell of a lot of celebrities over those years. Some were polite, some nice, some friendly, many were assholes. Talk shit about him and you are doing a disservice. The man is TRULY DOWN HOME. His former jobs run a gambit most would hate, but all were hard work. They include welder, coal miner, truck driver, dock worker, commercial pilot, and many more. He loved singing in a band with his buddies, and fortunately it paid off for him. Don't hate on someone because they are famous AND REAL.!!!!!!

Got my CDL a couple years back and was doing that for a bit. Now have a local delivery job that I enjoy, but it’s feeling like a bit of a dead end. At 35, I keep thinking it’s too late to get into a trade, but hearing you got into welding at 32 gives me hope. Maybe time to make the move! Seems like the trades need a lot of people who are dependable and want to work more than ever right now

We could also use the conditions that typified entry into the workforce in each of the preceding generations following World War II: the ability to earn a living wage in exchange for putting in 40 hours a week. That's a near-impossibility in today's economic environment, and that's largely a result of tax and fiscal policy embarked upon by every administration since Ronald Reagan.

My uncle drove a truck for years with Zoomstein. He retired when the logs went digital. He loved it. My brother drove for six years and had to stop. He is really short, and his knees got bad from getting in and out. My dad worked many jobs. His last was 19 years in the coal mines. He had a bad car accident in 87 and had to go on disability. Up until last year he still had a garden, mowed his yard, and whatever needed to be done. Dad is 90 he taught us to work hard and do it right. My son-in-law is 25 and works six hour shifts at the Dollar General store. He is exhausted and has to lay down and have a short nap when he gets home. I dont understand. Its like they feel entitled. Theyre expecting a baby in July. He wont be able to handle the needs of a baby

Started at 11 and working nights with my daddy then quit school at 15 and started a full time job and had three part time jobs with that one and at 18 took over the family business with my daddy's leadership to get me going ... ran it for 13 years until I answered the call to the ministry ....

agreed, when you work your ass off for a few cents really makes you appreciative of what you have and makes you proud at the end of the day that you did something other than sit on your ass all day like the kardashians receiving that silver spoon, just listening to aaron tippin can teach you quite a bit of life's lessons from working your ass off to not being a puppet on a string learning to stand for something and not falling for anything

I worked unloading trucks by hand when I was in my 40s, outworked a couple of twenty-year-olds. They got pissy about it and fed one of the bosses BS. He canned me. Two weeks later they got canned because they couldn't get the job done. My immediate boss said that he wished I could come back cause I was one of the best workers on his team. Couldn't do the work now, disabled because of a bad back, but if I could I would. Hard work is good for the soul.

Again never ever be out there doing what you can and not be proud of it if you do your best. My third brother went to learn how to work doing house building & one class he put up dry walling and teacher was amazed how he knew what to do, reply my dad showed me how. Teacher told him you're in wrong class because I can't teach you nothing else. So proud of him.

Even more true today than when the song was new. It doesn't even matter what line of work you're in. I'm a truck driver, my wife is a nurse, we have friends and family in everything from construction to law enforcement. We all see the same thing-about 1 in 10 young people entering the work force today actually have any kind of work ethic. It's shameful but, so many "parents" from my generation just gave their children whatever they wanted, instead of making them earn it. These kids, no matter what kind of education they have, are in no way prepared for the real world!
