Tips and Guide on how to beat Journey of the Prairie King and get the Prairie King & Fector's Challenge achievements (I think there's a bug you will get Fector's Challenge whether you lose a life or not).
Focus on the gold you need to get bullet damage asap.
Optimum shop upgrades in order:
Bullet Damage
Attack Speed
Boots
Bullet Damage
Attack Speed
If you can't afford bullet damage buy attack speed then save up for the bullet damage. Try to get 2x bullet damage for Chapter 3 levels.

This video tells me that I ain't getting that achievement. I would have never imagined there were so many levels. Not even Abigail can beat the first stage and that girl is capable of eating the quartz I gave her.

I beat the first chapter after painfully building up a strategy and genuine to god thought it'd be the end of the minigame..... Imagine my reaction when I realized there was more to it.

Also don't forget about the secret achievement of completing this mini game without dying once. On Xbox, 0.02% of gamers have this. It is next to impossible.

I finally managed to get that trophy a few minutes ago. It is actually not that hard, just need a little bit of getting used to the game. The worst part is that this trophy is mostly luck. In my "succeeding try" I ended up with 15 (!) coins after the very first leven and had I think 26 or something after the second. It is all about Coin drops early on. And later, especially in 2-4(river) and 3-3(lots of fly guys) it is also a bit about having luck with the spawns of the mobs and the drops. Again, in my succeeding try I had a sherrif star drop in each of the just mentioned levels PLUS i ended up with a machine gun for the final boss which basically kills him within seconds if you have damage upgrade 3. In short, the trophy isnt that much about skill, its more about patience and luck.

A very important tip for this minigame that many people don't mention, even though they use it to win, is to try to move diagonally from enemies, and shoot diagonally when possible.Apart from flying monsters, the normal mobs either move linearly up down left right, or sometimes move diagonally but way slower.If you only try to shoot vertically and horizontally , and not diagonally, you're shooting yourself in the foot.

The tip of sleeping on it and taking your time really helped me. I was doing so bad when I kept playing it in the same sitting but now I play it once a day and I'm only on my third day and I get very close to completing it, I was on the last stage before.

Its unfortunate you're not more popular, this was extremely informative and the last clip was humble. Also theres an achievement on xbox (assuming its on steam too) where 0.03% of the people who played stardew valley beat Journey of the Prarie King without dying once...

If you beat the game, it lets you play it through a second time on harder difficulty but you get to keep your upgrades. I beat it a second time. Then I played the third playthrough and got to the graveyard before running out of lives. Even so, I still struggled with Fector's Challenge. Took me another few weeks to actually beat the entire game without dieing once! Finally... got every achievement in this game.

Another tip, which most people should start noticing relatively quickly, is that land monsters move slowly when they walk diagonally to chase you, which gives you more time to shoot them in return. Always shoot diagonally when it makes sense instead of wasting time valuable time aligning yourself to land vertical/horizontal shots.

@@htsandy3136 I've forgotten the controls, but I imagine it's just pressing a horizontal and vertical shooting key at the same time (on PC). Just be aware, if you move at the same time as shooting diagonal, you might get locked into only moving horizontal or vertical. So no moving and shooting diagonal at the same time.

Little tip: The reason the tombstone makes enemies run away is because you kill them when you touch them. So there’s really no danger in picking up the items near the entrances. Really good video, never thought this mini game was this long lol

i finished the first level w/o dying thanks to your tips! but i died in the second one because i still couldn't believe i didn't die once in the first one and i felt the pressure to not die again so i panicked and used all my lives lol i'll try again some other day to finish this game. thanks again for this!

I noticed that when you used the tombstone you didn't use it for what it's actually used for, being that you can run into enemies to instantly kill them

I know this is an old video, but the tombstone power makes you invincible and you don't need to hide between cover to avoid damage. Just ran onto them and they will die instantly

The tombstone power up allows you to kill enemies on contact. Meaning you can temporarily kill enemies by simply touching them.

Luck does not affect the gold outcome, it is totally random, on a lucky day I tried it around 25 times and sometimes I only got 2 golds after the first level, and sometimes 11 golds... same thing happened on a unlucky day... people can think what they want, but most people saying luck affect it, probly only played the game on lucky days... It just make people more selfconfident on lucky days, that's it.

Okay but can I point out, your comment about muscle memory actually convinced me not to just give up. I can now consistently beat the first desert level, which is literally nothing but still leagues better than I ever thought I'd be.

jej, i beat it and had 8 lifes left :D Luck does really help, and dmg and attack speed upgrades are very important. As for the bosses you dont have to dodge bullets, just stay behind the obstacle and shoot whenever the pattern allows it. It takes longer but is 100% safe But you wont do it on ur first try.

Bullet powerups can layer. For example, if you pick up a wheel and a machine gun, you can use both at the same time.

if you sit in a corner and shoot diagonally out of it then you cannot be touched. this works up until the flying thing levels

Same, I don't have enough talent and patience to do it. I tried maybe 30 times and the farest I went is stage 2 level one, but most often i just get killed on stege 1 level 3, so yeah. It's impossible for me, personally...

Thanks for the video! Really helpful. I was having issues and I actually didnt think "stonger bullets = less hits". it seems like common sense but man im stupid hahaha. Also didnt realize lucky days effected the arcade games. Thanks a lot, finally got those achivements!

theres a way easier way to kill the first 2 bosses just stand infront of the bosses shields, walk right/left before he starts his patterns and if he does the one where he moves from middle to the left and then right side just stay put and aim diagonally at him... he usually is dead once he gets exhausted and stands in the open and if not all it takes are a few more prefires before he repeats his patterns and for the final boss.. if you can just save a star buff and wait for him to do the pattern where he summos minons its an easy kill even if you didnt upgrade your bulletdmg

not sure if you were aware of it or not, or just dodging stuff out of habit but while you have the tombstone power up and are in zombie form you will steamroll/ eat anything you touch. so you can take the few seconds to do a couple rounds of mowing down mobs, pack man pellet style, and perhaps find a better position before it wears off. (without warning) kinda have to be careful about the blood thirst for that reason. great video though, thanks. (i know this is a bit late but i just started playing again)

Another tip the skull bomb does some major damage to bosses so if possible keep one for the boss

I just recently beat the entire game with only one death. I died in the stage right before the final boss and I even beat her without dying (I used the star) for anyone attempting this just keep trying. I beat the game the first time after the second time I made it past the first boss and after that it had become easy to beat. I have been playing this for weeks trying to get the fectors challenge achievement

Bad tips: use abilities as soon as you receive them. If you get a bad one and dont use it, then the next one you pick up is automatically used. You can also combine power ups. Shotgun and wheel has even bigger radius.

Try to save a sheriff star for the last boss. I killed it in 5 seconds by bursting the shit out of her with the sheriff star

Is it just me, or sometimes when shooting and moving at the same time, my character doesn't move at all? It has fucked me up multiple times and it's fucking bullshit.

Yeah if you press too many keys at once its like wtf and you freeze, but if you are quick with releasing the last button before pressing the next you'll get the movement down. I've gotten to the final boss a few times but still haven't beaten it.

I don't know if this is considered cheating, but the first levels can be beat very easily by just standing in the corner and shooting diagonally and to the sides.

Actually, the tombstone power-up can be useful because if you run into monsters they also die, however, i haven't tested this with the stronger monsters that take multiple hits or stronger bullets to defeat.

sometimes when you are staying near the spawn place of the monsters, the monsters will spawn 2 or 1 more fucking tile/s then where they should spawn xD

TL;DR Get luck food for placebo effect Shoot diagonally when possible Gold > Powerups Play as safe as you can Dont go to a corner when flying enemies can just appear when you are standing Boots are pretty useless in the early game, so just buy it once or save money. Get sleep in real life, dont just sit there playing your 45th time trying to beat it. I think thats all

Another tactic you can use is for the early rounds. Just hug the corner so you can instantly shoot the monsters when they walk out on two entrances. But this only works for like the first two rounds
