Most important thing: use the desert warp totem (can be bought in the desert for 3 omni-geodes). this way you dont have to wait until 10.10am for the bus to go off.

If you want to make a lot of stairs to go down in the mine: use the cristalario to produce jade and on Sunday (only on sunday) in the desert saleswoman, you can change it for stairs

I like using Pumpkin Soup (+ 2 luck + 2 defence) and Triple Expresso for speed.

Duplicate jade is the best trick. Also good for qi quest. I usually have 10 crystallirum making them. Stone has become more of a precious resource in late game.

I got past level 100 on a "little extra luck" day with a desert warp totem, like 3-4 staircases, 150ish regular bombs, 3 spicy eel, espressos for speed, and salad for healing. I got 4 prismatic shards and didn't have to spend money on anything but salad! I'm excited to try out a run with lots of staircases - I'm trying to save up 100 staircases with stone and jade from crystalariums. Mining the skull cavern is kinda stressful compared to like fishing or smth but it's my fave part of the game right now because it feels like an adventure :D

Hi Fuzz, I know it's been a while since you've made this guide but I can't help but express my gratitude for this-really, your video is what helped me in my first Skull Cavern run. I wouldn't have been able to do what I was able to accomplish without you, so thank you. I'm a new Stardew Valley player and I have only been playing for a few weeks or so, and I'm currently on my second year. I've decided I wanted to do my first Skull Cavern run and get my first prismatic shard, and I knew I had to watch a guide or else I'll fail massively if I ran blind. Your guide is my most favorite of all the clips I've watched, it is so helpful (you're very pretty, too!) I'm proud to say that I've been able to reach Level 88 on my first run and get my first prismatic shard along the way! It may be a small feat for other players but I was really proud of myself. I genuinely love traversing Skull Cavern now because of you, and I loved Sandy's Candies during the SDV Cup, cheered for you all and Haboo the entire time!

I buy salad in builk from Gus for health :) I also go by the Desert Trader for warp-totems, stairs, spicy eels and triple-shot coffee. He's just too powerful to ignore, especially once you get a few crystalariums.

Another popular tip: crystalarium, jade, desert trader sells staircases for jade on Sundays. You can do the whole thing that way, but still good to follow other tips from the video (some floors may swarm you with monsters right away, plus you can keep going past 100 and bomb for resources). You can also use it as a plan B in case you hit a time or health crunch.

Dear, if you have chosen the mushroom cave in your farm then you can craft life elixir. Bring them with you because one of them fills your health bar completely. Plus you should regain your health before going to the next level. You don't know when the serpents are going to swarm on you. Happy mining.

I was so scared of this, but it wasn't too bad! I finally got a Prismatic Shard from an Omni Geode, and lots of resources. I'm not much of a combat person, so I took lots of staircases and food. I've only been to level 27, but I'm excited to try to get to the bottom.

Use a Desert Warp Totem as soon as you wake up so you can get into Skull Cavern immediately and don't worry about bringing a Warp Totem to get home, just stay until you pass out. It only costs you 1k gold and you keep your inventory.

At early game, i usually gathered quartz as many as i could. We can get refined quartz from broken glasses and broken cd. Trade quartz for the bombs at dessert trader is the easy and even the cheapest way ✌

Keep in mind that for you to be able to talk to the Dwarf, you'll have to have the Dwarf Translation Book, which is unlocked by getting all 4 scrolls within the mines. This is a luck thing, so it is entirely possible that you don't have that just yet on your first few attempts at the Skull Cave.

Toggle zoom buttons to see more of the map to spot preexisting staircases and enemies sooner. Gus sells salads that are a good choice for your health food. Don’t forget the backpack upgrades, the mines you can go up to store stuff every 5 levels so first upgrade alone is more than enough,but that doesn’t work here. (without the skull caverns elevator mod) Regular bombs are said to be roughly as useful as the mega bombs in finding the path down, so test both out to find out what works best for you. You can trade 3 quarts for a bomb like you would jade for staircases (see most other comments), and they can be harvested from a crystalarium every 7 hours. (3 times a day, if you have the automate mod just throw it next to a chest and that’s 7+ bombs per week per crystalarium) Kill serpents for the quest to get a ring that makes enemies explode upon death. Lucky rings can be found by panning and rarely as a reward in skull caverns for +1 luck when worn, and can be swapped with combat rings when blowing up rock to find a floor. (remember to put on your combat/defense rings when you go down a floor or find enemies) The slime charmer ring is a must, considering their encounter frequency and ease of swarming if you don’t burst them down against a wall when they split. (even if you burst them against a wall) Ginger ale gives luck instead of coffee’s speed boost. Spicy eel can be gotten from a lava eel pond. (haven’t checked rates) Rock candy is expensive, but a good choice as your buff food for when the stars align to give you your perfect run. If you have a warp totem in your inventory (not hot bar, it doesn’t have a prompt and just activates) then when you’re in trouble you can open your inventory to pause the game and put it in the currently selected slot and activate it immediately when unpausing to run away. You can restart the day if you die and loose something important. The statue of perfection, found in grandpa’s shrine after year 2 with a perfect rating, gives iridium ore, which can be smelted into bars to fix the boat and go to Ginger Island. (also geodes/panning) The volcano is short and linear (exit in the back, rarely a switch to find, keep zoomed out), so with a little practice and luck you can get through easily with the lava katana and the dwarves weapons that can be found within. The reward is a forge to strengthen gear and, for those who don’t want to dive into skull caverns without it, a prismatic shard to unlock the galaxy sword. The lava caps found on mushroom floors are great snacks, too. The deconstructor can break staircases into 99 stone. (useful as a stone farm)

This has got to be one of the best skull cavern guides I've seen. I've seen a lot where the only way to make any progress seemed to be crafting tons of crystalariums, which ironically requires a bunch of iridium, so I've just been putting off the skull cavern forever but now I'm excited to give it another go with your tips!

Explosive ammo helps too. I grind 999 bullets for slingshot, bunch of rubies for 50 spicy eels, 50 triple shot, cheese of course, 50 regular bombs, and sometimes i craft staircase. It took me 3 season to prep. 😂

For restoring energy and HP I use Cactus Fruit with all-iridium-quality buff

I play occasionally, an still not reach the level 100 in skill cavern but I'm keeping this tips for the day I decided to go.. I got a question, maybe it's a silly one but, again, I'm a occasional player so I don't know that much about the foods and drinks benefits and if one it's better than other for certain things.. Tip for those who suck at combat. If you take a lot of damage constantly - it's okey, you just need to heal more often. In this case cheese gets too expensive, so my advice is to plant corn, it grows in summer and autumn and you can make tortillas out of it (recipy at saloon) or you can use fried eggs. I heal so much I can eat up to 30 tortillas in one run. Later in the game mangos are super grate and they don't cost you any effort. Also before year 2 rocks at Robin cost 20g, so save some money and buy a couple of stacks, it would worth it! Same for ores at Clint. Before year 2 it's cheaper to buy ore from him than bombs from the dwarf.
