This is good information, my stranded friend. It's simple, yes; common-sense, yes; logical, yes--but far too often ignored by shore anglers, including me. I'm glad you slipped in a mention of the "Texas wedge" (the flat-sided "blade" lure) at the end. Here in the northeastern United States, I've used the Kastmaster as a slow-fall jig as well as a "swimming" spoon. And, it casts a country mile! By the way, if you need some help paying for what I'm sure is the very expensive new engine and installation, I feel sure that I'm not the only Billyfishing follower who would kick in a few dollars (or pounds) to assist in getting you back on the road. Just let us know. Best, Chris (Maine, USA)

Well billy I have been wondering about when you would make a video about lures and their uses......👍👍👍 Perhaps now people will not be ripped off by tackle dealers... selling them lures that are as much use as a chocolate teapot .in Norway and surrounding countries.. For over fifty years I have made my own lures and tied my own flies to use within the artic circle... however it is all down to trial and error when it comes to any form of lure... What didn't work in one spot may work in another. That's the way i have always approach my fishing . It has been said over the years that you have a chance of catching what is known as a Greenland shark in Very deep waters around the coast of Norway. However the only thing I have experienced is having 150 lb line snap like a carrot. While hooked to a fish. Which was definitely not a halibut... But that was years ago... when all you needed to catch a fish was a bit of silver foil on a hook... Anyway Billy I hope that they fix your car soon keep your self safe and well brother... Let's hope you catch the monster fish you are seeking as you definitely deserve it. For your efforts... that you put into your fishing. Adventures.
@Billyfishing_watch2 ай бұрын
Hi Wayne. There was no doubt in my mind that making your own laws is the key to catching greater fish, as you know doubt have experienced yourself. I'm for sure there are Greenland sharks in those waters you fish! An old friend has caught many over the years! Thank you for your support and enthusiasm, see you on the beach brother 😁👌

@@Billyfishing_watch Unfortunately Billy I am now to old to fish for one of these Greenland monsters... It would not be a case of me dragging it in now but a case of it pulling me in... If by chance you bump into a one eyed angler by the name of Sven Erickson..on your Norway adventure have a chat with him .. About lures...as far as I am aware he is now a fishing guide .. which is of no surprise to me. You will find that he is another that makes his own lures.. I still have one he made for me out of a butter knife. And some red wool..??? It has never failed to catch a fish..he uses things to make lures that I would never think of... anyway brother keep smiling mate and keep safe and well.

Hi Chris. I made the steel jigs from secondhand knives and forks, and then cut them to shape with a grinder. They are already pretty shiny so all you have to do is add some fluorescent paint. Thanks Brother 😁👌

Great stuff as always :) Thanks for all the tips! Will be using them in June when I go to Norway for the first time 😁 Going to try to fish as many species as possible in a week, any tips on good places to fish near Bodø? Other than Saltstraumen 😅 Thanks! :)
@Billyfishing_watch2 ай бұрын
There is great fishing all around Bodø, in the fjords and the open sea. But you cannot do any better than Saltstrauman! There are so many species concentrated in one area. Every time the tide abs and flows different pockets of the fjord are opened up, and different species become available. So don't knock it until you try it. Thanks Brother, glad you liked it 😁👌

Thanks btw you got me into Sea fishing well done and good luck!
@Billyfishing_watch2 ай бұрын
Hi bud. I think this could be a light issue. If the light has changed from Spring into summer, according to when you would normally fish. For example. It is now brighter, or it is now darker! Try and change the lure to something flashy, or something dark. I would start with some black soft plastics. And if that doesn't work go the other way. It's just a matter of experimentation! Enjoy that salt our brother. Thanks, see you on the beach 😁👌

hi Billy - personally, I used to prefer your channel when it was centred on bait fishing from the shore. Not just because that type of traditional surfcasting is my thing, but because I reckon it was only a matter of time before you got that 30 - 40lbs monster Cod. No doubt with Jigging / softbaits you catch more fish and it is probably more fun on lighter gear, but I'm not sure you're going to catch that monster..... This is not a criticism, you have some serious angling nouse, it's just an observation.
@Billyfishing_watch2 ай бұрын
Hi Ian. My channel was never centered around bait fishing, whatever tackle and techniques suit the circumstances I will always employ. Bait fishing in Norway is always more productive than the lure fishing. That being said most of my biggest fish in Norway have fallen to lures. This is because you could access more areas more easily with spinning tackle than hauling around a load of surf gear! But stay tuned buddy, there's always surfcasting on my channel. Thanks Brother 😁

It is hard to say what you need! But if the water is from 10 to 20 meters deep you'll be fine with a 60 gram lure, head on tail. Then, if you are going to fish deeper. 20 to 40 m, you will need a jig upwards of 90 grams . Head and tail. The deeper you go the more weight you need, the bigger the fisher the bigger the lures. This is just a general guide, experiences is the educator. Thanks Brother 😁👌
