This turned out amazingly well. I've had mixed results with salt and popcorn salt - that very fine, tiny salt -- NEVER works well for me. I think it's so fine it dissolves, and it won't come off. Seeing how beautifully this turned out, I feel inspired to try a few salt experiments now ❤
@SandyAllnock1

I think it depends on what colors are using and how wet the paint is when you put salt on. And how much pigment is there. And whether you hold your tongue to the left or not 🤣 every time I want to do a salt painting I have to test all over again!

2:08 In order to avoid warping you wet the 250 and 300 gsm from both sides and stretch onto a board and fixate it. You probably get away with only wetting one side with a 400 gsm of a taped down sheet.

In my experience salt words best on transparent staining colors. I've had bad luck using it on heavier granulating pigments where I get a hard dot instead of the effect you got. Maybe it's user error, I don't know. I'm still learning too

I haven’t tried different colors enough to determine which work best--usually I end up re-learning how wet the paper should be 🤣

This is really beautiful. I've only used salt once or twice, in an art journaling/watercolor class I took on zoom, and - lol - it was a dramatic FAIL (not enough direction for a newbie like me - just kinda slap some pigment on paper and you're good!)!! But this peaks my curiosity and makes me want to try it again. Thanks for posting!

Every time I remember to try it, I go through the same thoughts-how much pigment? How wet? How long do I leave it? So now I have this video I can go back to next time too. 😂
