Hi there!
This time I prepared a lesson or a tutorial for you if you like more for your soul than your body ;-)
The thing is, when posting tutorials, of course, I want to help women (and men) to learn how to move & dance but what is actually my main goal, is to make women (and men as well but mainly women) feel more comfortable in their bodies. I want women to feel confident, connected with their sensuality and inner goddess. And let me stop you right here, I am not trying to encourage women to twerk half-naked outside, if that is your goal, I fully support that but my main goal is to make you feel comfortable with yourself when you are by yourself. This is why I love dancing and teaching dancing, because I see, that while learning how to move, women gain confidence in their bodies and themselves as a whole which translates to their attitude in daily life.
However, before they get there, often they go through a lot of insecurities and struggle at the beginning of this journey. Often times when coming for a dance class for the first time I see or hear from ladies, and I also get messages from ladies saying that they feel awkward, they feel like they look stupid when trying to dance.
Hence I decided to post this video and share with you few tips on how to let it go.
One thing that you have to exercise and reset is your mindset. I advise you to think of all the insecurities you can think of right now, collect them in your mouth, and now EXHALE. Exhale all the negativity that surrounds your right now. I swear to you, this exercise is so helpful and brings even me, so much relief sometimes. You can repeat it few times and exhale as quietly or loud and intense as you want. I also like to do this when I feel stressed or my day gets too intense and I feel like I need to slow down for a second.
The next thing that I'd like you to do, especially if you are following my tutorial in the comfort of your house, is to look in the mirror and literally tell yourself, either in your mind or out loud, that you are beautiful. You look hot, for yourself and you going to look good when trying those new moves. If you are about to follow a twerking tutorial, check your booty, smile, give yourself a compliment that it looks good and you are about to shake that either way little or big buns. I know that if you are a beginner, beginner you feel like, yooo I am definitely not gonna look cute, " I feel awkward" etc etc.
BUT, first of all - dancing is about enjoyment. As a matter of fact, there is no right or wrong way to dance. Unless it is an audition setting, nobody is there to judge your performance. So again, exhale those negative thoughts and just tell yourself that you are going to have fun. Because that is the most important thing - dancing is supposed to make you feel happy, celebrate your body, connect with music.
Secondly, the more you practice, the better you get. So maybe right now you are not killing it as you wish, but then take a look at step one - so enjoy and repeat step two - keep on practicing.
You already made this step to follow a tutorial or a class, you should be so proud of yourself! Now don't give up and keep on going.
I know out of experience how it feels. I also follow sometimes classes that are ultra out of my comfort zone, such as hip hop class, but I literally do what I just told you to do (practice what you preach they say :P)). I smile to myself and enjoy the music, thank my body for trying and trying to do the best I can right now, right here.
So there you go my queens.
Collect all the negative thoughts that cross your mind right now about yourself, exhale it either way dynamically and loud or slowly and quietly, once or few times. Next, tell yourself you're gorgeous, think of something you really like about yourself, and enjoy dancing.
I know at the beginning it can be hard, especially if you feel insecure, but trust me, our mind is just like muscles, you just have to exercise it.
Love,
Nicole
