Tips for Choosing the Perfect Project for Variegated Yarns

We all have that hand dyed skein in our collection that we bought because the colors made our heart sing. But sometimes it languishes in our stash because we can't figure out what to do with it.
In this video, I show you how to pick a project that will transform that beautiful yarn into an equally beautiful shawl, cowl or scarf.

‚Pick a colour that‘s not in the skein‘, she said - followed by her staring at the rainbow skein. That was hilarious. ;D Very good tips for this type of yarn. I haven‘t bought this kind yet, but I haven been curious… thank you!

Great explanation on how colors play differently depending on the chosen pattern! I’m not a fan of pooling and now I know how to avoid it. I will be stash diving this week 👍

@@stringtheoryyarnco473 I love to let the yarn do what it may!! I’m along for the ride, and the yarn is in control!! (Except those rare times when I actually want more pooling and have to mix & match the yarn in use). Very interesting video. So much color that we see everyday but don’t think about!’

Thanks Janet. What a great little tutorial. It was all helpful and explains some of the mystery of how these variegated beauties knit up in different patterns AND combine with other solids and speckles. Nice!

Wish I had found this video before I started knitting my shawl 😂 I'm about 1/4 the way through of this VERY variegated yarn. It's got earthy green, gold, amber, teal, blue, cream, purple and pink 😂. I didn't know the golds and greens were in there cause the outer ball was just the purples and blues and I was like "Ummm wow okay that's weird" 😂. Now I feel like I have to finish since I got 2 skeins of this weird coloring yarn. I should've doubled it with a solid yard to blend it I think. Or striped it with a solid. Wish I could add photos to this comment so you can see these colors lol.
