In this video, I am setting up my planner for April 2023. I am going to be frankenplanning multiple planners together to fit all my needs for both home life and work life. The Happy Planner disc system lets me easily mix and match planners to come up with something that truly lights me up! All the planners are linked below!

Happy Planners are very expensive in Australia and rarely found on much of a discount. They are only sold online here, we don't have any in shops in Sydney. An 18 month Classic HP new release is $60-80; 12 month is $55. But you can still do frankenplanning with HP notebooks and printing inserts.

I have kept my journal, Bible Study, and daily planner separate but doing it one month at at time into one planner makes sense to me and takes up less space on my desk! I have seen you Frankenplan before but it only occurred to me watching this that journals and planning could go in the same space. Thanks for the inspo.

It helps me to have them all in one space so that it can travel easily with me. Now, all of mine don't fit together, so I keep faith separate for now, but since I do all my faith journaling at home, that works fine for me.

Very helpful and inspirational! I just can’t imagine how you manage to have/maintain/decorate planners, various memory keeping and Bible journals, do work obligations, attend kids’ many activities, run the household, be with your husband and, oh yes, personal hygiene and sleep! 🤣 I know it’s been said “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail”. But your style of decorative/artistic planning is over the top pretty and so talented. How do you fit in creative time while keeping all the balls in the air?

It is certainly a lot some weeks, I am not going to lie! But, I do have a pretty set routine one when I tackle different parts of my life (and different parts of my planners!). I try to give myself grace when I need a little creative break, because with my job, burnout can definitely be a real thing. I think one of the reasons decorative planning really drew me in is that I can do it on the go, which is great for when I am sitting at endless sports practices 😂

On topic of buying Planners at full price; I've always keep an eye out for Jo-Ann's coupons, I try mostly for the 50% off but will work with 40% off. Michael's is now back to allowing coupons & Hobby Lobby will have certain weeks where Happy Planner is discounted. Another thing is always check out Ross; I try to go every other week just to check if the have any & have found HP on very discounted prices. I ❤❤❤ Franken planning as I try to do more than I should! I have separate Franken planners as Home, Work & Faith/Journal in Classic; a Skinny Classic for NEW things coming out (TV shows, Books & Stickers); & a Mini that's my on the go planner, plus keeping track of my parents Dr. Appointments.

Love all those tips! I definitely would never pay full price for a planner...it is just too easy to pick them up for some kind of discount.

@@ScrappyWife Plus if you don’t mind “working” on Spiral planners they are easy to convert to Disc bound planners. I did this years Faith planner this way as I don’t really like HP Faith vertical & prefer to do more of a Horizontal, this year I ended up doing a daily journal type page instead.

Frankenplanning makes so much sense to me. I often find I love some aspects of different calendars but haven't found a weekly layout I like, Plus I need to figure out if my bog planning and regular life should be in one or separate :( Another great video! Sometimes it is tricky to find a setup that works for you, but it sure feels great when you do. Frankenplanning allows you to try different things pretty easily.

With all the practices and games, do you have another calendar that your kids can check to see when their activities are coming up? Do they check YOUR planner? Or do you encourage them to plan for themselves?

We have a large family calendar in the kitchen with everything written out. Plus, that gives my husband a chance to see the schedule and add what he needs to add.

I am retired, don't need to frankenplan really. Have to keep faith planning separate. In there, I do add journaling pages each month. In my main planner, I do catch-all, but add journal pages to track hobbies each month. I won't need larger discs, so the journal pages are removed as needed and kept separately with past pages.

Do you separate the past month back into the different categories or do you leave them set up as is? Do you keep your old planners?

I do! I put them back in their original planners so that I have them at the end of the year. I don't always keep all my old planners. Some of them are just for the joy of the moment, and I'd probably be over run with old planners if I kept them all.
