Really great ideas! When I was a child , I had a PD pal from England. She sent me a tiny, hand-embroidered lavender sachet. I STILL have it! A small piece of needlework is ESPECIALLY meaningful…and crafty!

Love all the great suggestions! Another idea is to include lines from a favorite character. I googled, then printed out funny dialogue by Norm on Cheers. This was my son's favorite show as a kid so I included in his birthday card. He has kept it a sometimes rereads it just for a laugh.

Great ideas. I make more ink blended backgrounds or ink smooshed backgrounds than I need. I like to send a few of them along to my card making friends. It is a “starter” card and I hope that they will finish them.

Excellent advice. Years ago, when my mom was still with us & live far away, she sent cards (she didn’t make them) but also inserted items like you mentioned. Cartoons, recipes, just something fun. I enjoyed the little surprise in the middle of my busy days. I even kept a bunch of the cards & enclosures. So sweet she took time to send to me. ❤️

I love the idea of recipe sharing. I like getting recipes. Even in the age of Pinterest, I like getting easy recipes from my friends.

What a great group of ideas! I like the idea of including a little personalized crossword puzzle….maybe just 5-10 words the have meaning -. Things like like, locations, songs etc you have shared. Could be a word search to!

I like to make and include bookmarks for my friends who are avid readers. Sometimes they match the card and are incorporated into the design and sometimes they are just slipped inside the card as a little extra.

Love all the tips! Thank you. I have one more idea, if they're gardeners, send a package of seeds of their/your favorite veggie to grow or their/your favorite flower! I'm a gardener, and I love to receive seeds as gifts 💓

Great tips, i do a lot of that. I was fascinated by it because I do a lot of those things without having really thought about it. But it would be worthwhile to be more mindful about it. A lot of times I include "doo-dads" in the cards (doo-dads are diecuts that i previously made but never used). i love the idea of recipes and jokes. I also like the idea of an image to color.

Great ideas for making it more personal. I usually only make cards for specify people and events but could also include more fun things. One thing I have done before is sending a flower seed packet in Easter cards. Get ready for Spring!

I’m making a card for a friend who is taking an exam next week and I’ve made her a bookmark for all the revision she is doing. They are flat and easy to fit into a card. Thanks again! Great ideas, especially the photos from your phone. I'm always saving the El Arroyo signs from my hometown of Austin to send to family or friends, especially if they know of El Arroyo (1 of Austin's famous restaurants!)

Great ideas! One thing I’ve done in the past is to include a couple of scratch off lottery tickets with a note saying how lucky I am to have them in my life and hopefully they will be lucky with the tickets. Kind of silly, but they loved it.

When our son was stationed in Iraq I saved and sent the Sunday comics with every piece of mail or package I sent. Those comics were the most passed around item he received. I still like to send a comic or two from the Sunday paper when I send him a card.

Thanks Kristina, these are all great ideas. I actually do a "card" calendar at the beginning of the year with all the upcoming birthdays and special events that I keep at my craft area so I know what's coming up. I also love the idea of adding flat items to the cards, one additional idea would be some ephemera, I always have lots. Thanks again!

This made me cry 😢because I always have good intentions of making and sending my cards and then forget. the pandemic really added to that stress, and I was able to send some cards but not as many as i wanted. With a recent move and having more space I have the opportunity to really set up my craft room to really organize and make plans to make more cards. Thank you for the inspiration and tools to expand my personal crafting.

As a kid I used to collect the "Love Is" comic from the newspaper, and would cut them out and glue them into a blank notebook. Those would be fun to send to people (if anyone gets a newspaper with comics anymore!!!) I love the recipe idea. What a special way to pass along treasured recipes.

Great video. Thanks, Kristina. BTW Mother's and Father's Days are celebrated in other countries, too. In France and in Belgium both are celebrated -- Belgium's days are the week after France's days, if I remember right from when I lived in France near the Belgian border. I subscribe to Reader's Digest and have sent the funny parts to others in the past. Good reminder! You know who else really appreciates those? Servicepersons. A friend of mine always sends me a special USPS collectible stamp in thank-you cards. She's a USPS employee so she always has the coolest stamps! I love getting those! Have a great weekend! these are really good tips! i'm a gardener and really into botanical illustrations, so i often draw cards with flowers/plants that are somehow significant to or remind me of the recipient or symbolize something i wish for them (like recovery or new beginnings etc). sometimes i even slip a pressed flower or two inside (obvs nothing too delicate so it doesn't break in the mail). i think it's really fun :3

For people who like to read (real Books) I like to add a few bookplates ("this book belongs to" etc) I've made. My mini Xyron or double sided adhesive makes them easy to use.

Hello, I love your sweater. It's so cute and a good color for you. The video really had great ideas that are useful for me. I have been making cards and scrapbooking for the past 10+ years. I have taught classes in the middle school I worked at before I retired and enjoyed them.

The most popular crossword magazine in my country has really pretty "find the differences" puzzles. I cut them out and send them to friends, or sometimes grab free drawings from the internet and alter 20 tiny details with a digital software, making my own "find the differences". Check the copyright to make sure it's fine to alter the image! I think it's such a fun past time for all ages!

I haven't bought a card fo almost 20 years. Every card I make is designed specifically for the recipient irrespective of the reason for sending it. This is a great video, thank you so much for sharing your ideas and experience.

Love these ideas! One thing I’ve done over the last year is make a checklist of family and friends and I make it a point to send three cards a week- one friend, one family member, and whoever is on the weekly prayer list at church. When I go through the whole list, I start over! My grandkids especially love getting their own mail and their siblings know they’ll have a turn soon too. I love making lots of seasonal cards and also using card kits! Also, where did you get your adorable sweater? I need it.

I send tea bags. At Christmas I enclosed ones that were labeled "Joy." Others I've used were Passion and also Zen. In other cards I enclosed holiday printed masks.

Love your tips. I try to make all my cards special for the person getting the card .sometimes it takes me several days to do the card. My son always asks, how many days to do that one? But adding things that you mentioned and ready the other comments, have ideas for INSIDE the card. That's kinda where I get stuck. I want the inside to be as great as the front. I get my OCD going and it has to be perfect. I'm very picky to what I make. A few time I just let go and did it on the fly and it was good and more fun. 2022 have to loosen up. Lol. Thanks for Sharing. I saved this to replay and write tips down in my book for future. Will be checking other video for inside card tips too. Thanks again.

I have created a calendar book, have the year they were born, so if there is a special birthday I can acknowledge that. I also include anniversaries and acknowledge the special ones and if I know they are having a diffcult time, it also includes deaths, these are for those people I can send a special thinking of you on the anniversary of the death (sounds gross but have had really good responses...) its a diary of dates...

One of my new year resolutions was to send more cards. I have come to realize I would make cards but not send many. I don’t know why. I told myself I must give/send at least 50 cards this year. You mentioned pen pals. I used to do the same and missed those days. I’d love to do pen pal with handmade cards if anyone is interested. Great tips!!!!!

Good ideas for getting started. Sometimes that can be the hardest part. Related a lot to the end part on how to make the cards more meaningful. Inserting a card for them to send which is already designed but not colored. Including some embellishments. They get to color which is very restful/de-stresser but they get to put it all together. I've even included the pencils to use for some people

Making a very specific birthday card while watching this..and a male bday card...this person LOVES LOVES LOVES cars so of course the front cover has 3 classic cars on the front (black and gold peel off stickers that I have had forever)...and the bday glimmer die is on the inside so the whole card is black and gold..
