Excellent video. I sew leather using an Addler commercial. When edge sewing panel outside shapes I template, then sew side stitches, then trim the leather just outside the stitches. This works great when I'm using two pieces of 4 oz. leather glued together (hide faces top & back ... such as used in holster making).

Great tips Elizabeth! That's one of the reasons I got the jean hump jumper for those thick layers. Never heard of a roller foot, I'm intrigued 😁. I also like using a walking foot as well. Btw, love the jacket and dress.

Thanks Nateida! The jeans hump jumper is another good alternative! I'm really liking the roller foot for when leathers are right sides together. I'd want to test on the right side to make sure it won't stick or that the roller won't damage the surface when you topstitch. But it's a good extra tool and definitely worth experimenting with!

Your tips are perfect Elizabeth! I've used almost all of them except two...1. the roller foot, I have one and never new what I could use it for and 2. fabric clips, I have to get some of these, SERIOUSLY!! I love your jacket, it is definitely you! Thanks for sharing! 😍

Thanks Myra. I am not into pins ever, but I've been surprised by the clips. They really do help with these kinds of fabrics and it's great that they don't damage the fabric!

This one is a faux leather, though all the tips apply. Real leather is actually easier in a lot of ways to handle than faux.

Yes leather needle, and use topstitching thread for topstitching (all purpose in the bobbin), all-purpose for construction.

Leather or denim needles are good here. Use a bigger size for thicker leathers, and a thinner needle for lighter weight ones.
