Same, I started last night and finally got my clay to roll out the moulds without breaking. I attached them to my ornaments , woke up this morning with cracks just about everywhere. I made a slurry and tried my best to fix. They aren’t perfect but now it’s a waiting game again.

Thank you! Appreciate you making this. Looking to re do some furniture w/ 🌷🌺🌸. How long does it take to dry? And is E 6000 glue alright to use or wood glue better? Open question to anyone who can answer, thank you in advance.
@Recreateddesigns
@Recreateddesigns Жыл бұрын
You are most welcome ;) You can use some E600 but I usually use wood glue. I think both work well though. The wood glue is usually dry fairly quickly. I use the tacky one so there is an initial stick to it. The air dry clay usually dries within a day or so depending on where you live and the humidity. Hope that helps :)

Hi Lisa! ❤️ur video on molds! I want to cast a bee using a metal bee. (The bee protrudes out on the front. I’ll be using clay or hot glue to fill the backside of my bee.) Do you think cornstarch will help release the cast once it cures/dries? I was also told to use oil since this is a huge metal bee. Thank you again for your informative video!❤️❤️❤️

@Recreateddesigns

It would really depend on what the bottle is made out of. If it is glass you may want to use a different glue. I use the wood glue for furniture and home decor pieces that are wood generally.

What kind of glue would you use to adhere air dry clay to a canvas?
@Recreateddesigns
@Recreateddesigns Жыл бұрын
Hmm, that is a good question. I would likely use something that has come tack to it so maybe something like E6000. I have done it with wood glue before as well. It will really depend on how large the piece you are trying to attach is (a larger piece will have more weight so will need something stronger to keep it attached).

Thank you so much! What glue do you recommend to attach this clay to jesmonite please if possible I'm a complete newbie here 😁
@Recreateddesigns
@Recreateddesigns Жыл бұрын
Hi Isabel. Jesmonite can be a little tricky since it is a composite material. If you are adding the paper clay to the Jesmonite you would need to let it cure and then use a 2 part epoxy to bond the two together. You can find the epoxy at home improvement stores or even the dollar store sometimes depending on where you live. Hope that help and have fun :)
@isasmakeup
@isasmakeup Жыл бұрын
@@Recreateddesigns thank you so much! I was thinking to use the polymer clay like small flowers made to attach to the jesmonite tray ☺️ will I need the 2 epoxy for it or can I use a piece of clay to "stick" sort to speak to the tray 😅 sorry so many questions
@Recreateddesigns
@Recreateddesigns Жыл бұрын
@@isasmakeup No worries at all... I'm happy to help if I can. I would think that you will still need the epoxy. The clay will likely not just stick to the jesmonite. As the clay dries it becomes hard and I don't think it will stick. That begin said I haven't tried it yet lol.

I would use the same process for a deeper mould. If you are having trouble releasing the clay from a deeper mould, try placing it in the freezer for 15 minutes, and then it should come out well.

Hi, it can shrink a little bit for sure. If you need a tight seal, you can always add in a little clay once the initial has dried to fill in any areas. Generally I have not found it ever to shrink so much that I needed to do that though.

Glue them on wet? They don’t shrink and crack? Interesting
@Recreateddesigns
@Recreateddesigns Жыл бұрын
They will shrink and crack a bit (any air dry/paper clay will). By gluing them on wet the clay will not shrink on the glued surface. If you dry them first the bottom will not be flat enough to glue it to the furniture piece.

The lady should explain she is using IOD moulds and she mentions she is using IOD air dry clay: These 2 products: - 1: the grey/black mould pad and the 2: white air-dry-clay, in my opinion are the two best products on the market: Firstly the clay doesn't stick to yr finger nor leave leave yr hands with residue of the colour of the clay on yr hand... so you don't have to wash yr hand to remove the the white residue left on yr hand: The mould pad itself seems to be made of a superior quality where the clay doesn't stick to the mould and you have to pry the clay out with yr fingers or an instrument: this clay eliminates all that: The moulds have a raised edge on all their individual designs on every mould. Meaning its like a lip and it's a safety catch, NO OVER FLOW OF THE CLAY ONTO OTHER AREAS: THAT LIP KEEPS ALL THE CLAY IN THE DUG OUT DESIGN: I HAVEN'T SEEN OTHER PRODUCTS WITH THIS SAFETY CATCHMENT: THAT'S WHY IOD PRODUCTS ARE MORE EXPENSIVE:
@Recreateddesigns

What would you like explained? I am happy to explain something further if there wasn't enough clarification.
