Wish someone would have told me. Go easy with those chia seeds and fermented foods. If you do too much to fast you will quickly wish you didn’t. The gas is horrible and it hurts. Start out slow with like a half of fermented pickle. Or a few fermented olives. One table spoon of sauerkraut or kimchi give it a few days and work your way up.

“Skipping meals” has changed my life. I was sick, nauseated, miserable, and obese for the past decade - eating 3 meals a day with snacks. I now have an athletic physique, and have more energy and endurance than ever before (at almost 36 years old), eating one to two meals later in the day. Too many of us force ourselves to eat too much food too often, to the detriment of our health because we are _told_ it’s unhealthy not to. Sure some people function amazingly on many meals a day, but I’ve met HUNDREDS of people now who experienced vast improvements in their overall health and well-being from cutting down the amount of times they eat :)

@@salvation1863 nah these folks are usually recovering from restrictive ED and really hammer home the whole “never skip breakfast, never skip your snacks” because they _think_ that means starving yourself if you do, or at least claim to think that. It’s a big (and very aggressive) community on YT that are pretty convinced that you’re a bad person, or at least extremely unhealthy, if you don’t eat large meals multiple times a day. This lady doesn’t get aggressive about it, but from what I’ve seen of her content I’m pretty sure she’s on that bandwagon (ie the types who show themselves eating multiple huge meals a day while showing off super skinny figures, which just isn’t achievable for most people and does leave question as to whether these women are actually eating all the meals they show in their vids)

Also if she would have said "everyone" people would complain how she can know what men need. There's already people complaining they can't eat that way BC it makes them gassy. Or that claim to have been eating like this and could not lose weight. It's not BC of clean foods. It's BC of excess everything Sugar, fat and animal fat especially, too processed. Fast food. I thought sometimes skipping a meal per day is good for not let your body pruduce insuline every time of the day. Intermitted fasting works easy for many people with just skipping breakfast. I try it my self the last few weeks and i like it. I learned to not snack everytime when i‘m in the kitchen and i think my sleep gets better while having Dinner Not to late in the evening, too.

Intermittent fasting and fasting in general are great. I lost over 100lbs and my blood work is absolutely clear now. Even after I got to my ideal weight I still fast for the health benefits and I still maintenance weight without thinking about it. Our bodies are absolutely meant to not eat sometimes, our hunter gatherer ancestors didn't get 3 to 6 meals a day. Additionally our digestive system never gets to complete the digestive cycle because we interrupt it and restart the process as soon as the next piece of food enters our body.
@mordecaiissad8529
@mordecaiissad8529 5 ай бұрын
As someone who never felt hungry in the morning since I was a kid so I just almost never ate breakfast, I think skipping meals is a complex topic. Especially with how often these turn into eating much bigger meals after the fasting period. I'd say in a lot of cases its just honestly a restrict-binge cycle. on top of that for a lot of people it leaves them a lot more tired. Now it absolutely works for a lot of people and from what I understand it came about as a diet for specific health concerns. But it's a bit of an shaky ground and I wouldn't go recommending it to people just off the bat. Also as long as you eat 3h before bed you should be fine for sleep. The goal shouldn't be restrictive eating and avoiding food when you're hungry. If you're hungry you're body is telling you it needs fuel.

@ilianabekmetova9996
@ilianabekmetova9996 5 ай бұрын
@@heythere5817 Indeed it is rare to find a decent nutritionist who additionally endorses fasting. Fasting and nutrition should go hand in hand, sure you can eat a whole 2000 calorie cheesecake for your meal of the day and fast the rest of the day and still lose weight if that is your goal (I did this at the beginning of my fasting journey a few times) but that doesn't mean it is ideal at all. Nowadays I have one nutritionally and calorically balanced meal a day, I've learned to really enjoy my food, to feel the difference between actual hunger and when my stomach is just empty and bored. It's absolutely empowering to not be a slave to desire and beguilement, of course I have the ability to eat a whole family sized pack of crisps/chocolates but those whims are pretty nonexistent now.
@maikeoto6903
@maikeoto6903 5 ай бұрын
@@mordecaiissad8529for pretty much everyone, intermittent fasting is going to be a huge benefit for health. You should not be eating multiple times a day and snacking a lot. It usually leads to worsened metabolic health through a ton of factors but mainly through insulin. If you're only eating 1-2 meals a day they're going to be big meals. It helps people get more control over their hunger and health over time without restraint on WHAT they eat. With how awful dietitian nutrition is, it's hard for people to eat a healthy diet. So this is a way to help people easily get healthier even if their diet isn't the best. It's amazing, perfectly safe, and has countless times been proven beneficial for lots of metabolic health markers.

Very bad for people who battled anorexia or bulimia in their teen years. It gets those same "all or nothing" obssesive thoughts racing through your brain again. Very dangerous, emotionally/mentally. The people I know who have lost weight and KEPT it off just do small meals three times a day and two protein rich snacks. I believe the "science" behind intermittent fasting is going to prove faulty for long-term weight maintenance and will mess with metabolism. But, either way, too dangerous for former eating disorder patients.

A note on the fermented foods! The addition to your micro biome will only last if you consistently keep on eating those foods. Eating kimchi once won’t really help your gut all that much. The microbes die off quickly if they are not fed/maintained. So be consistent :) also another tip. Not all yoghurts are made with yoghurt cultures anymore, so don’t have the same benefit you think it might have. Always check the packaging and company before choosing a yoghurt if you want the gut benefits ❤

I agree with 1, 3 and 4. Not so much with 2 and 5. Some food (like this slice of pizza) is bad for you. Do not try to deny that. Just don't beat yourself up, when you eat something unhealthy. And no you don't need to eat according to any schedule, especially not 3 times a day or even more often. I would consider finding another nutrinionist. The best would be to not eat for pleasure. Food that makes you happy is almost exclusively bad for you. Get rid of the addictions, just eat healthy food and find joy in other parts of life.

I used to work 12 hours shift as a cleaner in restaurant, the application said only to wash dishes, but i literally needed to clean the entire restaurant, we didnt have normal breaks, breaks only when there are no people, so i used to gobble up my food so fast and felt really bad after, i left the job three days later💀💀

As a person who suffered from a really bad ED for years, I especially lile the recommendation to not compare your plate to other's. But this "what I eat in a day" Trend, so many influencers are doing nowadays really aim the comparison and trigger the f out of many people who suffer from EDs

As an official German who consumes a (ridiculous) tonne of sauerkraut each Christmas, I can confirm it is delicious. Healthy? I don’t know-

How do I not think of food in terms of Good and bad? Being raised by doctor I was also taught to have a balanced meal with lots of veggies. I include them instinctively and think it’s delicious so much so that the dish feels empty or Incomplete without it. However I was also taught foodstuffs like (highly) process foods ( this includes stuff like mayo, instant noodles) double cooked foods, deep fried stuff, frozen ready to eat stuff, stuff with lots of oil/salt/sugar is objectively bad and I should always try to steam, boil and shallow fry stuff. This results me in always feels guilty when eating said “unhealthy/bad” stuff and even binging them/eating them in one sitting and then feeling worse. I do think the food I eat in general is pretty balanced and healthy however I’m confused as to how I should about guiding and helping my loved ones like my spouse or future kids eat healthy and inculcate healthy eating habits in them.

Don't worry about it, seriously. Breakfast literally means break your fast, whatever time your first meal of the day is it's breakfast because it breaks your fast.
