If anyone’s interested, I bought a box of the pins you can get with the little plastic balls on the heads. I push them through the rear end of the tube and stick the point into a foam lined box at an angle. That way they don’t get squashed and they’re easily accessible. I have a bit of an obsession with not squashing my flies 🤣. Ryan Houston slides his into little polythene tubes. Obviously I find that a bit scary!

Your tube flies look better more like regular hooked flies than ones I’ve seen from other tyers. The other tyers seem to be trying to tie in the round & seem to loose the appearance of the pattern rather than the way you do it. Yours look marvelous. I’ve never tied or used tube flies. In which types of situations & why do you think tube flies provide an advantage over traditional hooked flies? Thank you.

Hi Davie, once again a great video. I wondered if I could pick your brains...? Whe I tie a tube... I find I really struggle to get the flies off the needle... Takes alot of force and I have damaged the materials on the fly in doing so. Is there any way of avoiding this with out sacrificing hold on the vice for tying? Cheers Iain

Hy davie, great new video's watch them all! Can you explain step by step how you ty a tube Fly , somehow I tried a few but still can't get a grip on them still think they are somehow to bushy.
