Hi !!! , oh what a great idea about the T shape at the top! Its true "especially for babies with larger heads" if we want the heads a realistic weight we need some support in there! I think I know what your talking about tying the stocking for the bum in the middle so it makes two cheeks! Lol I do that sometimes too. I'm gonna check out Katie's video! I love to get tips on how others reweight their babies bc it's not only just knowing what materials to use it's about the technique of distributing that weight. Great tips thank you so much! I have learned that the weight of a baby being just right for me makes a huge difference in feeling that realism & bonding. It never bothers me when a baby comes & the weight is not to my liking. It's always fun to put a little of your own creativity in, especially being the weight does not compramise the artists work as its just stuffing the inside! Lol Hugs & love xoxoxo

Hi Patly!! Oh I just loved your comment thank you for sharing all of that!! Its funny when you said about the shoes it jogged my memory. I remember putting a pair of infant sneakers my mom got for me for my dolls on one of my cabbage patch dolls. The shoes were heavy & made him feel heavy I loved it! I also remember holding him by his hands & pretending teaching him to walk. It was so much fun! I also had a viynal realistic looking doll "not a reborn of course" just a baby doll. But I cut the back of the doll open & I put in two of those gell ice packs "not frozen" inside him which made him a realistic weight & I loved that! We had the Strawberry Short cake dolls here & I believe they made her also in a rag doll. That could be what you had. Did she have red hair, freckles & a pink dress? I loved all baby dolls, but the more realistic looking & most especially the more realistic feeling the more I loved them! I'm sorry you ran into such lack of empathy many yrs ago with the reborn dolls. We face that here in the US to an extent. Only my close friends & imeadiate family know I collect these dolls. I do not share on my regular social media or with my buisness colleague's as many people do not understand. I was grateful to find this whole community & ladies sharing their dolls here on you tube. @@piximommysreborns, that's funny, we've had the same idea with the shoes ! 😁 My strawberry short cake (thank you for the english name 😉) had pink wool hair, a bonnet with strawberries, Freckles, a red dress with an apron and she had black and white horizontal stripes on the legs. Her feet were quite big, that's why the shoes fit her 😉 I'm so happy to have found this community on youtube and Facebook. In one year, i have only talk about reborns to my best friend (she has no problem with it, she likes it), my 12 yearold niece (she loves it, she wants pictures all the time ! 😁), her mother who is my sister and who had difficulties to understand. The first time i told her, i saw in her eyes she was wondering if i was becoming crazy. With time she has accepted the idea (thanks to my niece, i think) and two months ago she has even helped me purchasing my first true reborn and when i explained her i felt like painting, she found it great and encouraged me. A few weeks ago, i told my brother about reborns, because i will need his help to prepare the place i wanna use to paint and bake my babies. First i told him i had a great project, then i explained him what a reborn was, i showed him a blank kit and my reborn. When i told him to hold the reborn, so that he can feel the weight, he said : "i don't like to hold real babies, i'm not going to hold a doll !" 😁 He, finally, accepted but just held her in his hands, as if her diaper was full 🤣 and when he felt the weight and saw the details of painting and rooting, his look changed. He recognized there was a true artistic work and told me that if it made me happy, i should do it. 😊 Now i have to tell my mom and i have no idea of the reaction she will have. I'm sure she's gonna think i'm depressed and going slightly mad, because of many things i went through, but with time, she could accept it and maybe even like it, if i make beautiful babies 😜. Hi Tricia, I would put the fine glass beads in the limbs. I would do them first. The fine glass because its compact you can get more weight for the space if that makes sence. Don't over fill the limbs leave room to pack some polly fill stuffing in the ends so its packed real tight so non of the fine glass spills out into the body. For the body you can use the baby fat pellets "but remember they are lighter than the find glass that's compact" but they do give a nice squishy fill so however you like. The bottom should have the most weight "real babies that's the heaviest part aside from the head". Maybe so the fine glass beads in a stocking for the babys bottom, build the polly fill around it. Then I put a nice long stocking full of glass beads for the middle & then top it off with a smaller sack of glass beads or the baby fat whatever you prefer. If you like your baby heavy & floppy make sure you don't over stuff with the polly fill because then the baby will feel stiff. I give a nicd weighg to the head to with the glass beads in a stocking put that in down towards the back of the head then stuff with lots of polly fill so nothing moves around. Best of luck with weighting your sweet Aria!! Don't be afraid to keep playing around with it until you have her exactly how you want her! I can sometimes spend many hours getting it just right 😉😘

You can always draw hair with a washable marker (if you mess up) I did that and it worked perfectly!

Oh thank you so much for your lovely comment! Oh my goodness yes I remember the first time I needed to reweight a baby. It was a Saskia that I wanted a bit heavier, but more importantly I wanted her to be able to sit up! She just flopped over like in your case & for that sculpt I wanted her to beable to sit up for pictures like she realistically should have for that size/age baby. The thought of taking off her head oh my word I was terrified!! I had the materials yet it took me weeks to work up to it! Lol . I watched several reweighting tudorals & finally built up the courage. When I finally snipped through that zip tie I think my heart must of dropped out my butt!! 🤣🤣🤣 Once I did it & got her back together realizing that everything was just fine it was such a relief! Each baby I've had to reweight or simply just adjust the weight it just got easier & easier & now it's no big deal of course! I've sure been through alot of zipties as I was learning. Especially being sometimes I would tighten them just a bit to much making the head or limbs to hard to move. It takes a little practice which is why I recommend just ordering alot of zipties. Their not terribly expensive & great to have on hand! But most importantly yes! It's totally ok as reborn Mommies/doll collectors to explore our babies & do matinence like rewighting or changing out a body. Sometimes we just prefer a different weight or even a different body type then what the baby came on. We definitely do not need the expense & risk of shipping our beloved babies to have an artist do the things that with just a little courage we're all perfectly capable of! I'm so glad this video was helpful to new or nervous Mommies!! Hi there, I'm not sure of the brand of his body bc I'm his 3rd Mommy. It could be the body the Levi kit comes with. I don't know if it was ever changed. By looking I would say that it's the 19 to 20" body. 18" would be to small and over 20" would definitely be to big. So you would be good to go with any 19" to 20" body. Some of the suppliers it will say "19 to 20 inches" some may just say "20 inch body" depending on where you order. This looks kinda like the older Bountiful Baby bodies, but as long as you get the right size body the rest is all about how you distribute the weight. Don't over stuff as that makes them stiff. I like my reborns heavy, but floppy & posable. Most weight in the bum. A little in the middle and maybe a tad on top. Make the head heavy & don't put to much Polly fill . Make sure the body can easily bend at the waist and curl up to pose. That will give you the most realistic movement on any reborn. Hope that helps xo 🤗

You can look at thrift stores. We have two really good ones in our area.
