smart couple; obviously both high performers and have the right stuff to do very well in life at what ever they decide to do. Nice to see more and more couples like this going into farming for the health of us all.

Greetings from South Carolina! I noticed that you are covering ground with black plastic, I assume to kill whatever is growing there including weeds. How long do you leave it down to reliably kill weeds? How thick is the plastic. What a beautiful farm!

So if I interpret the video correctly, 50% of getting up and running quickly is a nifty selection of hand tools, because that‘s how much time of this video is dedicated to them. Should be easy then.

@@joelegrand5903 Maybe if your soil is incredibly rich and well draining, or if you live in a desert. If you have clay in an average rainfall environment you are better off making raised beds and mulching with compost. Straw wont add any fertility for almost a year until it breaks down, its basically just there to suppress weeds and retain moisture. But it can indeed cause problems as well. Like cold waterlogged soil in the spring, weeds growing through the straw, weed seeds being brought in by the straw, and the annoyance of moving straw around everytime you want to see. Id get the fertility and everything dealt with first, then if you want to mulch with straw in the summer then it can help for sure.

On our 2nd year of Ruth stout method and holy worms! We have heavy clay and year 1 was not good but we stuck with it and our year 2 is looking so good, no more hours weeding! Just like everything in life just cause its working great for me doesn't mean it's the right method for everyone.. happy gardening

Moving a farm is not that difficult, just moving all that dirt is tough. On the topic of tools, the more you own the longer you’ll live. I’m proof!
