This channel Rocks. People don't realize the H.O.U.R.S. it takes to make a good video essay. But I'm impressed. All the work doesn't matter if the knowledge and insight isn't there, and there's Plenty of knowledge and insight here. Though I'm a writer, I'll never write in such an elaborated and structured way. Even my one novel didn't have this kind of tension building structure. But it's Great Fun to see how screenwriters get it done. They deserve more credit. For instance, in adaptation, sometimes the movies is, maybe less paradoxical, but evokes Deeper emotion. The End of the Affair is a movie that for me takes the famous writer's source material and creates a much more human drama about Faith and the Epic decision to reject faith. In that way its a companion piece with The Rapture. And the religion musings in Isaac Bashavic Singers Shosha. Well, I'm trippin' out. It's Irish cream hour here in Pixarland. I hope you can keep making videos. You're among the ones who are really worth watching. And that's Huge. 🌼🌹🌼🌿

I would love to see some examples of Act 2 that fail in the way you describe. I don't quite understand the significance of these many examples where it's done right, because I don't understand what doing it wrong looks like. Thanks!

Thank you for this. I have hit something of a writers block for unfortunately about 3 years. I felt the first and third acts were pretty good, maybe great, but the bridge between the two needed some help. After seeing this I realized I already had alot of this in there or some unique take on these points, I just need to work on those moments and perfect them and string them together to make the second act work. This honestly may have been the most helpful writing video I have seen since I began writing.
