Tips & Tricks For PARAGLIDING CONTROL When Landing In STRONGER WIND. How to land safely and kill your paraglider without getting dragged around? Let's find out in this video! A strong wind can be dangerous for paragliding if you don't have the right ground handling skills to control your paraglider.

These two methods, "the power zone" and "edge of the wind window", are pretty straightforward and good to know. Of course, there are plenty more options that we will share in future videos. Which method is the best? Well, there is probably no right or wrong answer to that! It is important to take into consideration the pilot's skills, the terrain, the wing used and the actual wind conditions. Strong wind is subjective, with no universally defined threshold. It hinges on individual pilot skills, the specific paragliding wing used and the terrain. If a full-sized paragliding wing is used, strong wind may commence at approximately 30 km/h or higher. Nonetheless, even this speed can prove excessive for those lacking the requisite skills to control the wing under such conditions. ✅ Conversely, adept pilots may find it entirely manageable and view it as the threshold where real fun begins 🔥Choosing smaller and dedicated wings can elevate the point at which strong wind is perceived!
It is very important to spend a lot of time ground handling your paraglider, as only that can give you the right skills and confidence for safe paragliding takeoffs, flights and landings!

Thanks for the vid. Tip: I prefer pulling one A causing a large onesided collapse, and simulatenously/ quickly turn . It the collapse moves the glider out if the powerzone, and unloads the risers so that one can actually run towards the wing, and with som luck one can even grab a wingtip.

Some EN-A gliders want to take off even with full break pull (with no break-line twists, that is). It can be pretty stressful for beginner pilots to experience the first time around. I have a Gradient EN-A that just doesn't want to drop down when in gusty winds. I have to twist the break lines a few times around my wrists to shorten then even more in order to kill it completely.

I'm quite fond of A's & C's for very strong winds. Initiate an asymmetric with the A's in one hand, rotate with the glider and then use the C's in your other hand to kill the glider and stop it coming down too hard. That said, I will definitely try the side method you show, which is also good practice for the cobra launch.

Collapse one side with the A’s and stall the other side. When you get it right the wing crumples neatly the the ground with no power. Easy to get it wrong and I imagine that it doesn’t work so well with the new generation wings that are harder to collapse. In stressful high wind landings I keep it simple and stall it and run towards the wing to grab some fabric.

Not one mention of what a lot of us Aussies consider the best strong wind takedown - kill it with the rear risers! Safer and more reliable than both methods shared?!

@flybubbleparagliding hi guys! I personally would like to see them make the C riser takedown a core requirement for a license! In strong winds, I would never touch my brakes as the risk of being lofted and/or pulled back is far too great. However even when the brake method is shown for strong wind, I would suggest you should 100% couple it with showing running to the wing and grabbing a tip - and fast. To use brakes in strong wind also requires several wraps for me personally to consider it an effective and safe method - but it takes more time to wrap than to grab the Cs, so I still would put the rear riser take down ahead of either of the methods shown... just my 2 bobs worth. 😉😎

an option i use sometimes = keeping hands up with the brakes (helps to avoid being dragged cause i keep the glider flying) and reach for for one side "A"risers and pull them down - practically a side collapse. what do you think?
