You could just take the hard drive out and buy a adapter and you would be able to recover your files from your harddrive.

Yes, press F8 when Windows is booting or, what I did recently is use the Restore/Installation CD that comes with Windows (Dell computers often have restore CD's) l to run the installation and during installation select Repair

Thanks for your tutorial it worked great, but now I have run into a problem where when I try to type certain characters, something strange happens, like for example I try to type the number 2, and it pops up internet explorer but doesn't type the character. Same thing for other keys, like it'll bring up control panel or something when I hit another key but it won't type the character that corresponds with that key. Might this be due to this hack in your tutorial? Or some unrelated problem? I tried plugging in an external keyboard but doesn't seem to help. Very grateful for your help 🙏

I got into using my tablet for pretty much everything rather than my Windows computer. It was quite awhile since I last was on my computer. Well, I turned on the computer and it wanted the password. I'm sure I remember it but it just wouldn't accept it, maybe I just spelled it wrong. So I did a search on my tablet how to get past the password and found this video. I had to attempt 3x of shutting down as it did not prompt the screen you mentioned. Interestingly, in the 3rd try, it prompted me to change my password. It worked! Thanks for the power shutdown suggestion.

I just want to say thank you for this video. We had an old laptop that belonged to my Son Chris' girlfriend that had videos and pictures of them from when they were teenagers and a little older. Back story is my Son Chris was killed 9/22/20. No one knew the password and i tried different ways to get into it and couldnt get to the pictures folder. well win 8 is hell compared to this, i'm having to copy the hard drive to another image or disk and then edit it then recopy it back over edited. Unless there is some other way, I've been looking for the last day to find a way other than disassembly and reassembly.

Thank you, having just lost my dog (he had a stroke 12 1/2 years old) I needed to get into a very old computer to get pictures that were not backed up. I was wondering about this? because the windows bar at he bottom is gray.. is the computer in safe mode or something? how does one reverse?

Thanks for posting because I was wondering if it would work on a laptop. Got a Dell laptop at a pawn shop years back for just $40 and it had been upgraded to windows 7 but locked me out after not using it for two months. Will try this now.

Fantastic!!!! Tried all morning to remember the password on an old computer. This video saved me! Awesome instruction! Easy to understand. I had the video playing on a laptop while I followed the instructions on the desktop. I first watched the video once all the way through, then stopped the video at each instruction while I followed along on the desktop. Thank you for the excellent teaching!

I tried using this on windows 7 starter but I am getting the question to do system restore instead of the error. Nevermind that way did still work. Notes for anyone else who tries with a hp mini computer or something where it's the hp recovery. ALT + TAB will allow you to go to the send/don't send screen.

My husband’s grandfather passed away, they were complete buddies, always hanging out in his “computer room” and my husband brought his grandfather’s computer to our house but didn’t know his password. Dude,well in 2015-2016, I was dumbass and I didn't knew English. I MISTAKENLY added an account as an administrator and I don't recall how I did it but I cancelled out the keyboard. So when I'm at the login part,My keyboard just disappears. Now, I'm going to try this WITHOUT A KEYBOARD!!!

Thank you soo much, my mom put a password on our family computer and when she turned on the computer the password didn't work.
