How to service a GX / Alkone engine carburetor How to clean the GX 160 carburetor Basically the same as motorbike carburetors in general, but the type of GX and similar engine carburetors do not use skep and skep needles. So the fuel ignition system in this carburetor is very much influenced by the jet pilot. The position of the pilot jet on this carburetor is installed on the outside of the carburetor. Usually this component escapes handling during the cleaning or service process. The governor component of an Alkone or GX engine is generally set at the factory, but there are times when the effects of excessive use and long engine operating times can cause the governor lever to shift. The adjustment method is quite simple, namely by loosening the adjusting bolt on the governor lever, then position the carburetor in a fully open gas condition. Then turn the governor axle clockwise until it is stuck. If you feel uncomfortable, you can repeat this by slightly reducing the gas opening on the carburetor. Then re-tighten the nut on the governor axle.
