Just moved operations onto our 16ac farm this spring since retiring and have spent time on it between tents and now tiny houses. In fact I’m responding to you right here inside the unit while wife sleeps in the other section. We put in a garden again this year and filled 1/4 ac with peppers, tomatoes, cukes, sweet potatoes, zucchini, butternut squash, 3 varieties of watermelon, green beans on and on. I’ve been preparing for this for eight years since I first bought this farm, have solar and wind power being installed with my son helping me as he is learning about this alt energy. Just had to share and give you 👍👍for your effort and say howdy. Howdy

Beautiful place you have kinda reminds me of rural Florida. What’s sad is in Florida they’re trying to kick people out of tiny homes and travel trailers even in the country. I still don’t understand why..?! I’m going back to a simpler life. Sick of my rent going up every six months to a year. I clicked on your short and thought wow this is exactly what I have been wanting to do. Devine intervention ❣️🙏 You are blessed sir. Congratulations to you and your wife. Yeah animals are a lot of work even dogs and chickens. Get a cat lol they own you and not the other way around plus they keep rats and snakes away. Not 💯 percent but I would take that chance lol. Fresh eggs is nice. My brother has chickens and they are costly they need love and care. Glad to hear you’re not there yet. Spoken like a true gentleman. Enjoyed your honesty. My solar panels generate between 3000-4000 watts per hour on a good day, sometimes hitting 5000 watts. My central air conditioner draws roughly 2500 watts when it's running and when it's in heating mode it draws about 3500 watts (there are no heat strips the compressor just runs at a higher speed) but since the HVAC unit only runs intermittent, I always produce more electricity than I need. The drawback to solar is I produce a lot less in the dead of winter, still enough to power my house but not enough to run the heat pump, that's where the wood stove comes into play. The solar production picks back up in the spring and in the fall I use the excess power I produced during the summer so I can use just the heat pump at those times.

Same. I've wanted to do this for years and years. Looked at land in Oklahoma years and years ago. I so want to kick myself in the ass for not getting it. It was $200/month for 20 very treed acres. It would almost be paid off now.. But that was back when eBay had many listings for land that were cheap with little or no money down in Oklahoma and Missouri. Not hardly any listings there now.

I live south of Tulsa. Currently looking for land a little further south and maybe west of where I live currently. Prices have gotten outrageous. It’s worth it though. Getting away from everything and living off the land is the way it should be. I’m divorced now so even better haha. I’m ready for a bigger garden than I have now, a couple head of cattle, chicken and fruit trees. I’m in my early 30’s so I think by the time I hit 40 it should be completely self sufficient with all the necessary additions added along the way while learning. You have a great set up there and I appreciate your insight.

Nice, very nice. With all that is going on, the bovine excrement hitting the fan (classy way of saying shtf) is not the time to be building a garden and chicken coop and stocking it with chickens. Need to be doing that all right now. And to ensure the safety of the garden and the chickens, fencing. We bought our house and a small bit of land it is on pretty cheap. But, there was no fencing. Nice thing about fences is it keeps what you want inside and what you don't want outside. But, here is another benefit. It is a trellis. The outer fencing has black raspberries, climbing rose (which provides rose petals for jelly and or tea) and (rose hips for the best winter source of vitamin C in winter time), grapes, the list goes on and on. I have dwarfed plum trees where their branches are woven into the fence so fruit is easily picked. I set up rows within the fenced area where again I use posts and fencing as trellis to grow all of my climbing fruits and veggies and beas/peas. Growing grains and producing some of our own syrup/sugars and we are getting more and more off grid every year. And ya know what? The food tastes a whole lot better too. Oh, we use heirloom seeds so we can reproduce our seed that sprout true year after year. Take care y'all!

Our house will be paid off in 18 months then we plan to travel to different places (warm weather states) for vacation home. Would love to know more about your income and how do you make a living paying the few (but existent) bills this you have. I feel like many “off griders” nowadays can do so because they have some kind of family money behind (not your case I would guess).

I'm all but off grid, the only thing that really separates me from that is my solar array is grid tied without a battery I only pay $10 a month to stay hooked up, no electric bill. That is the only utility service I have. I saved up and paid cash for everything. I won't buy an electric car either because they are too expensive and would require more solar panels. My gas car is paid for, bought it used for $2k and all my driving is for pleasure as I only live 5 miles from my job and stores. I do have electric lawn mower, weed whacker, chainsaw, and leaf blower though.

Never subscribed before. But ive never seen a usefull &selfless vid like this before either. T.y. for showing so many that there IS a way out of the sham/cam the gov has us living in. And u r right. If every one did this the gov would find a way to put a stop to it. I wish I had the bravery u had doing this. I think I could have the faith to try but 2 things stop me... My heart is failing at 41. My wife scared to leave a 90k job. But in n.j. 90 k ÷ 2 gets you nowhere fast..only to next check. I truly envy/admire u. At least someone made it out.

You know you have to have water and fences and solar and a place to live before you get animals. But, it does look like you are close to being ready for chickens or sime small animals. Get some cute goats, people will watch your channel just to see the baby goats. You are doing great. That land and house would be much higher if buying today. I just found your channel and enjoy how you explain things to where most people can understand it. Don't forget about the goats. Goats (and chickens) are a lot of fun.

Did about the same, 5.2 acres and a 14'x36' shed. Alot of work but I paid off the shed 3yrs ago and the land 6 months ago. The land is about worthless because it's mostly a hillside, but it power, water and septic ready to go.

@@OKLAHOMAOFFGRID people should know though that while getting a shed is easy, there's a lot of work and money that comes after that. The building was $5600 cash outright, but financed with no credit $12,700. Had to borrow a tractor to clear a flat spot and and get a couple layers of screenings, then raise it up on blocks. Then the first thing is wiring which is far from cheap, thank goodness I'm an electrician. And then plumbing for the kitchen, bathroom, water heater etc, also not cheap. After that it's insulation and AC, and then paneling and lighting. And then interior walls, kitchen cabinets, closets etc. My 14x36 shed is now a house, but even with me being able to do all the work it cost me 30 grand atleast.

@@OKLAHOMAOFFGRID yeah, and I do sleep a little better at night knowing my home and land is paid for. They did raise the taxes from $144 to $255 per year but that's not bad. And right now I'm putting 2.3kw of solar panels on my roof. You should check out Santan Solar, I got 10 235w panels for $26 each.
