Tirunelveli Halwa Recipe in Tamil / Godhumai Halwa /Iruttu Kadai Halwa

In this video we will see how to make Tirunelveli Halwa recipe in Tamil. This halwa is very famous in the district of Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu. There are two main types of halwa in tirunelveli, the Iruttu Kadai Halwa and Shanti sweets halwa. Although many similar halwas exists and are sometimes falsely marketed, the real taste of tirunelveli halwa cannot be duplicated.
For the authentic taste of tirunelveli halwa / godhumai halwa we have to use Samba Godhumai. You can use either whole or broken samba wheat.

It is a fact that both IRUTTUKKADAI HALWA AND LAKSHMI VILAS HALWA , the owners came from Rajasthan State to Tirunelveli 100 years ago after testing the river water right from Ganga to Vaigai and settled in Tirunelveli after the Halwa was prepared by using Tambaraparai river water. +Malar T hi sis did you use samba wheat or ordinary wheat?? Did you use enough water, for making halwa we need to stir for the full period, we we don't add sufficient amount of water then the halwa won't turn good

hi steffi, i'm the follower of yr channel for a long time. yr way of explanation is very good, clear and understandable. this diwali i'm gonna try this recipe which is very impressive and by seeing yr video itself i'm drooling:). and i ve a doubt in the measurements. as our family is huge, i'm gonna take 5 cups whole wheat. if i get 5 cups of wheat milk, do i need to add 20 cups of water and 15 cups of sugar? is the entire measurement based on the amount of wheat milk v get regardless of the quantity of whole wheat? if i'm wrong, can u pls give me the correct measurements for 5 cups of wheat milk?

Hi Steffi, I shared this video link to my friend. She also tried n it was good but the texture of halwa was like crystalized sugar( Little grainy) n she also said the ghee did not ooze out itself. She asked what must be the reason, since I did once only I don't have idea. Do you any idea about that??
