I got my 1911 A1 Army (the latest incarnation of this gun, just hit the market) on the last Black Friday for only $300, took it to a range and put 28 FMJs through it and 20 Federal HST hollow points through it without a flaw. Granted, not much ammo yet, but I had put a red dot on my EDC and had to use the time to dial it in and make sure it held the adjustment. The Tisas is more accurate than I am, and just impressed the heck out of me. A guy on KZfaq tried to have a conversation with me to tell me how bad the guns are. Yeah....versus the numerous positive demonstrations of the gun here on KZfaq. Then when I took mine to the range it performed as expected, flawless. Can't wait to take it to the club and shoot half a day with it and see what happens. I know a lot of fun will be happening though. These are well made guns. I don't know about how they were years ago, but they are right on now.

Hey, thank you for the comment, I just keep hearing good things about Tisas! You got a heck of a deal! I need to try the HP's that you used and see how mine does. I really like this 1911, absolutely solid!
@1001Hobbies5 ай бұрын
@@n721sw - I chose the Federal HST for the gel performance, but also because the point has a slight radius on it before the edge of the hole, which I expect to help with feeding. Some hollow points come up and look like a volcano crater, and I expect those can give 1911s, which were originally designed to fire only FMJs, a problem.

How did you put a red dot on it ?
@1001Hobbies5 ай бұрын
@@JBands23 I put a red dot on my EDC, which is a SIG P365XL. I just got the 1911 and wanted to try it out as well, but I had to make sure I had the red dot on my SIG sighted in, and that it held without moving.

Bought one of these since I never had a 1911. Sometimes buying a cheap version of something can put you off from progressing because they're not really good but I was very surprised at how well they're made and how well they work. I would definitely recommend one of these as a lower cost way to learn to shoot a 1911. Even got a holster and use it for concealed carry on occasion. During the break in period I had the same issue with hollow points but I think it's just the nature of their design. After 500 rounds it will feed everything and no issues. Even went through a couple boxes of the aluminum Blazer rounds without choking on them.

I am very that Tisas makes a budget 1911 that works. I would love to have a Dan Wesson, Wilson Combat, etc. my budget will not allow for that. Thanks for the review and thanks to Tisas.

Sometimes extra money just doesn't equate to extra gun. Around 2008 I was sponsored by a friend to attend a 4-day defensive handgun course at Frontsight in NV. I bought a Para-Ordnance, my first 1911 and put a few hundred rounds through it to take with me. It preformed perfectly and accurately and earned me distinguished graduate status. Over 4 days, I saw at least two guys having issues with their 1911s, one a Colt and the other a Springfield. My buddy took his $1200, (in 2008) Kimber and it did good for him.

I would have liked to have seen more brass to see if they all had light primer strikes. These new models are equipped with a light weight titanium firing pin that may be a little tight fit for now? The failure to feed looked like a mag issue? I just bought one of the new Tisas 1911 A1 "ASF" U.S. Army 9's and the mags were hard to load because they were so dry, I oiled both mags before firing and I had no issues with ball or HP rounds. The stock Army sites are terrible especially the front being curved.

Right on, Tisas makes some good 1911's. When it comes to hollowpoints I have found that bullets that are less cone shaped and more round tend to feed better in mine. Norma makes a decent hollow point that tends to run in my guns. They still seem prone to bullet setback though.

The pencil eraser in the tip of the Hornady ammo will cause malfunctions when/if the rubber hits the feed ramp. Not reliable in some guns but prob works fine in Glocks with those big, wide, and less steeped/angled feed ramps.

Holsters for the 1911 are everywhere, and should be the most common holster ever produced if I was guessing, the key is to find one that fits your mission, I like concealed carry, and it is such a large frame it makes it more difficult to pull off, now open carry, is easy, lots of options, thank you for the comment man

The Tisas 1911s are one of the best deals for not only a 1911 but pistols in general. They are crafted very well with hammer forged steel frames and slides which only more expensive manufacturers do that. Turkish pistols have always been made well however dont get delusional you get what you pay for everytime! Tisas uses garbage magazines and a lot of questionalbe MIM parts that Im not comfortable which make upgrading parts and mags mandatory if you want to take that thing serious.
