The awards should be given to the woman whom the judges think deserves the award and it shouldn’t matter if most of the awards were given to the same woman if she really deserved all those awards. I think it only meant that she really stood out. I didn’t have any favorites but Ms. Cebu City really stood out.

I think it’s actually a good thing that Bea isn’t too babad in social media since a lot people who still couldn’t accept their fave’s defeat are throwing stones and casting her down -diminishing her efforts. I mean we saw what it did to Rabiya

Only shows that this is not a popularity contest and that performance is still rewarded. If she can bring this quiet confidence on the international stage. She could be our 5th Miss Universe.

My Cebuano heart is so proud. 💜 Steffi came prepared with all her pasabogs from intro, runway, editorials and even advocacy which for me is one of the most relatable. I saw how she and her team rallied for the crown. Ganahan kaayo kos transformation niya from Binibining Cebu to now. She has grown so much - beautiful, classy, alta and with purpose. Humot kaayo sya tan awon. Her prelims was okayish for me but damn her finals look is ethereal! Gwapa jud kaayo sya! Monyika! Overall look was an international-ready candidate. The swimsuit round was her winning moment - strides, transitions, and the face screams Miss Universe. Her gown was gorgeous same with her execution. Q&A is her waterloo even before but I love how she now sticks with one liners. Nadala lang jud sya sa kulba. Nevertheless, proud kaayo ko aning Steffi. I'm a fan and will always be. Steffi, you did an amazing job! Thank you for representing Cebu so well. You will always be loved. Can't wait to see what the universe awaits for you. ✨ Bea on the other hand is the safest candidate from the very start. Tall, smart, beautiful and her caramel brown skin is luscious! Her introduction video marked her arrival. She looked like a rich high-calibre model from Asia being transported to the west via jets - commanding and truly intimidating. As part of the LGBTQI+ community herself, she even expounded her reach by being a reservist and these for me is her advantage going to Israel. Her walk, body, and face is divine! This girl is true to her core, witty and a total darkhorse. Iya prelims kay strong kaayo and very impressive then, finals, I dunno, I saw Kylie V in her jud. She ticks all the box but I hope she works on her transitions para mas seamless and fluid ang iya executions. And, yes, I hope she'll post more often to stabilize her socmed footing. Bea is a low key gwapa na Cebuana. Excited kaayo ko for this girl. I know she can do it once more. We'll support you in getting that 5th MU crown! ✨ P.S. this is my late appreciation post for these two girls. My unsolicited observations sad. Bea deserves to win: tall, walks like a Ms U, pretty, face, speaks good English, nice skin color, prominent cheek bones, nice set of teeth, hindi mukhang rehearsed sumagot. May laban sa Ms U in Dec.

Hmmmm...I think people read too much into things. Steffi getting one special award means just that. Just because Steffi only got one special award doesn't mean the scale is automatically tipped towards A&Q and it was a deliberate choice to overlook Steffi because she is KF, or whatever your reasoning is. Why can't we give these sponsors the benefit of the doubt and think you know what, baka choice nga ng sponsor yun, just as choice niyong maging bias toward certain candidates? So kung hakot award si Steffi does that make the "distribution of awards" (as per 8:04 onwards) fairer because "as we all know, Steffi is marketable"? Not saying walang politics involved in pageants but we like to be offended when it CONVENIENTLY serves our bias. PS: Leren was DEFINITELY robbed. Just looking at their body of work and experience, I'll give Victoria a snub and give Leren a top 5 spot. Maureen was so sincere with her answer but it was all milk and no meat with her "reach for the universe" spiel. It reminded me of Olivia Jordan's MU2015 answer. It was sweet and takes a shot at being motivational but it needed more logos than pathos. I honestly thought Maureen was gonna cause an upset and win it all...until her Q&A round. She is a solid contender though and hopefully she considers coming back or joining BBP because Maureen deserves a crown and represent the country internationally.

I love Steffi to bits. I woke up at 4am just to watch her. I have to be honest though, the moment I realized she was having a hard time collecting her thoughts, I knew it was over. Whatever the reason why it happened, whether nerves got in the way, or the negativity finally got through her bones, into her marrow - to finally crush her spirit, gotta accept the fact that it was not for her.

I love Steffi but she technically doesn't answer questions thrown to her. It's absurd.

The org wants a representative who could give a dramatic story in the MU competition. Bea being part of the LGBT community, being the first openly gay woman to represent Philippines and an army reservist would make her very interesting. Just like Demi Leigh's story when she was attacked and robbed by a group of men after she was crowned Miss SA. It gave her a story to tell about the importance of women learning self defense.

Though Leren does lack some charisma, her overall performance and styling was the best of the whole group IMO. Even her interview was good. She deserved Top 5 over VVV at the very least, who I think had problems with her final evening gown...it really slowed her down.

The blatant dominance of sponsors in every aspect of judging in the competition left a bad taste in one's mouth. Where's the balance? The veteran queens? Moving forward... Bea is put in an interesting position: She is not saddled with the predictably ultra high expectations of a very vocal Filipino fan army. Her lack of unanimous support could decrease the rabid engagement of the fan base and may spare us all the toxicity that has sadly become part of the Filipino pageant brand. Bea is free to surprise us and succeed on her own merits . Win or lose, she remains a daring and compelling choice - one that is ground breaking and ultimately moves pageantry's future and relevance forward.

By finals night, it doesn’t matter how much adrenaline you have - these women are beyond exhausted and running on fumes at this point. You either blossom that night or lose your spark. I felt like some of our front runners who felt like they had so much to lose or prove, lost some of that inner glow. Just so unfortunate. There were women that my heart broke for 😞. Besides that, Pasarela and or Q & A flaws aside, they gave us one hell of a show and gave the judges a run for their money. Thank you for the exceptional work, ladies 💓💓💓

I never even paid attention to Ms. Cebu City during the early rounds but when I watched the finals night, she was really popping out. Her face is really commanding drowning the other girls.

Maureen should have emphasize that height doesnt matter. She is inspiring the average Filipina to strive and dream big.

Hi tita, I didn't feel that Katrina was nervous at all. I thought her answers were on point. I agree with you about two things na flaws sa knya: 1) Nakulangan lng ako sa pasarela (yes parang low energy) nya parang walang trademark walk like Shamcey's tsunami walk or Janine's cobra walk. 2) Also, her make up was too strong siguro which made her look way older than Bea. Her styling and make up tlga didn't suit her. (kahit 2 years lng gap nila) and maybe if nilugay nya hair, (wavy) she should have looked like a glam goddess compared to Bea. Just my 2 cents 😃

Insightful review! Much appreciated. Is MUP ready to crown a vertically challenged, petite lady but whose mind is taller than her body and more beautiful than her face? Bea winning the crown may be a surprise, even a shocker. But that coronation night, the other top 4 made me nervous, whereas Bea made me believe. Kisses was the only one I thought could have surely delivered a solid answer to any of the top 5 questions, if she was given a spot. As for social media in response to a social awareness question, one could be related to the other, but that'd be quite a tall order or long shot to cover in 30 seconds. EQ or emotional intelligence and building a sense of community and sisterhood in adversity and diversity even and especially in such context as a beauty contest or pageantry would be more adjacent to social awareness and more relatable for young women.

Other suggestions: A. A NatCos that is easy to wear and perform in, one that she can don herself even without the help of backstage staff. Critical: fittings, fittings, fittings and actual dress rehearsal even BEFORE she flies to Israel. Pati shoes. Best to have Bea use all her shoes during practice sessions prior her flight. B. An EG design that creates strong visual impact, and less attention on details like beadings, crystals and cutouts. Details like heavy beadworks are best appreciated during editorials and photoshoots, but could be hardly effective during onstage competitions. Bea will only have about 15 seconds to make an impact among the judges and the audience, who will all see her from a relative distance. So visual appeal and aesthetics would be more practical goals. The fabric needs to look super light (which is difficult to achieve with detailed beadwork) and flow with her pasarela. The color needs to complement Bea's skin tone, and (hopefully) provide a vivid contrast against the stage colors and lighting. C. Strategize Bea's socmed engagements upon arriving in Israel, especially during the final stretch of the competition. I suppose it would be best to start limiting Bea's public/socmed engagements from the day the NatCos show happens and onwards to the finals. D. Infuse elements in Bea's pasarela, to include initial pose, foot/leg work (strides), arm/hand movements, facial transitions, eye contact (particularly with the camera), and posing before the judges upon reaching the front or center stage. Bea should maximize her allotted time at this point. Best for her team to review the elements of Pia's and Cat's prelims and finals performances. Bottomline for this aspect: baka hindi po kailangan magmadali bumalik backstage.

Especially during the announcement of special awards, there was a cheap ambiance to it. The classiness of our Miss Universe pageant went down the drain. "Noticed too that a sponsor can be a judge. Just because his/her company supports the pageant, then they deserve to be judges? I kind of question the ethics around this. Love the way you talk about kisses, that was quite accurate. I am not a strong fan of hers but I come to admire her deeply during her journey to this pageant. Yes, let us give our full support to Bea. She deserves it. Steffi was actually right to say social media needs to be utilized with responsibility because others are going beyond their rights and limited freedom. That's when people have to be taught of social awareness to be sensitive and respectful. With all the trash and hateful comments coming out and the different versions of stories that make information ambiguous and uncertain, people choose to believe and are unaware of lies. Maybe Steffi should have stressed on the need for information to be filtered and learn to validate these information we're getting in seeking for what is authentic, true, and reliable especially about the issues against women. That way people will be socially aware of the real story. Social awareness is a sensitive and responsible sharing of the real stories, human struggles, and facts.

They all looked great, walang tapon inga ka. Even those in the top 10, pwedeng manalo. But there could only be one winner, and that is Bea. We need to support her, she would represent the Philippines in the Ms Universe, we should unite.

Bea is similar to Miss Universe 2009, Estefania Fernandez of Venezuela. They were in the middle of every segment, enough to enter every cut of the competition but in the end managed to clinched the title.

Tbh I think Steffi's Q&A trainer failed her. Yung "keyword" technique doesn't work in nationals, effective lang yun local pageants. Kasi pag buong bansa na nanonood sayo hihimayin talaga yung answer. While pag local pageant lang Basta it sounded good and mukhang confident si candidate sa pag answer pwede na.

I hope MUPh would consider prepping Bea's comskills by actually engaging her in both informal and formal conversations with foreigners, especially Americans and perhaps Israelis (since MU '21 will be held in Israel). We Filipinos are already known to be among the best English speaking peoples in the world. But there are times when we would still feel some nerves when already conversing with foreigners. Bottomline: we might need to have Bea feel very comfortable speaking with people who have American, Latin and Middle Eastern accents, before she leaves for Israel. As to her q&a, I won't be worried too much about the actual content. Of course infusing substance in her replies would be a big plus. But this could very well be just the mere icing on the cake. More important will be her delivery. Her answers need to be devoid of any hesitation, reflect fluidity. She also needs to maintain composure, sustain eye contact, and end her final statement with a big smile to the judges and the camera. Just my two cents....

Tita! it's your masugid na subscriber here hehe. SHEIN (the clothing brand) is pronounced as she-in or even like the word sheen, not that it deserves that similarity, since the brand is literal fast fashion toxicity, but I digress....🤓

There are factors with the result to be considered: one is that Bea was not really a top 5 (even top 10) pick of many pageant fans and vlogs/blogs, but all of a sudden she was winning all of these awards on coronation night - when she had 3 or 4 other candidates better than her in those categories. This was a huge red flag alert of where the coronation night was going. Second, her Q&As at coronation night were not at the level that would vault a candidate to the title. Third, it is not a Final Answer Pageant. The beautiful Yvonne Ryding of Sweden MU 84, and Wendy Fitzwilliam MU 98 won their titles with struggling and broken answers, but in these cases the panel must have considered the overall impression. So the key is to consider who have been the true frontrunners and most sought-after all this time (Hint: this was a group of three candidates). This is how to judge and select a pageant winner, and the MUP 2021 panel didn't execute this. Also, Bea (and Maureen) shouldn't even have made top 5. There were too many more "prepared for MU 2021" candidates standing in the Top 16/Top 10 such as Laguna, Aklan and Manila. The top 5 and entire result would have been so different if the MUP organization had just kept it in mind that there is not much time until MU 2021. This edition really should have been treated as a battle between the most ready and experienced candidates who are completely ready for MU 2021.

Heeeeyyy Tita L! So here are my thoughts: 1. I would have to disagree with you on the production number. Although they technically had very little time in Bohol, they certainly had ample time before they moved to Bohol to come up with and practice better choreography. What were they doing then when they were in their bubble in Manila? Screams a whole lot of inefficiency to me. 2. Getting the Best in SS and Best in EG from the Preliminary Competition is downright dumb. First, the purpose of the Prelims is to select the ladies who would advance to the semis. That's it. It shouldn't bear any weight in the actual Finals. That's how Miss Universe does it. That's how any reputable pageant does it. Second, and more damning of all, THE JUDGES OF THE PRELIMS WERE SHAMCEY, A SPONSOR AND JONAS GAFFUD. Of course they would choose someone from A&Q. Looking back at the Prelims, Steffi still did better than Bea. 3. I find it ironic how only Bea and Steffi were the only non-Luzon or NCR candidates who managed to get special awards. Also, one would think that with Steffi's commercially-appealing beauty and her popularity that she would get more awards. Maybe that one sponsor who spoke out against her in public also managed to disway other sponsors? Or maybe JG used his "magic" there as well? Even the Cream Silk award where the winner would get some sort of influencer job with it, surely Steffi would've been a better choice than Bea, given Steffi's social media presence and engagement.

Hello Tita, do you still think Steffi can still join next year for MUP 2022? Majority felt so sad that she was not crowned. I am ok with Bea but very disturbed by the tattoo.

I'm also rooting for Steffi to win,, Steffi and Katrina are my top 2. I think what Steffi needs to improve on her QnA is the consistency and content of her answer . There are times that she nailed every question and answer portion as I witnessed her Binibining Cebu and other local pagaents. She has conviction and eloquence but sometimes the content of her answers are not that convincing and impactful. But over all it's still workable for her.

I have observed why beatrice aced her performance that night because she was the last contestant in top 16 and top10. while the 3 top performers were merged in the mid part like katrina was before steffi and leren was next after steffi. From my vantage point in the United States, I have been following the youtubers to keep informed with the candidates. Bea was not even in the radar. Wow! She’s like this hurricane, a typhoon rather….that just conquered in a very stealth way. So I did further intel on Bea. She is a very disciplined candidate (check out the book The Road Less Traveled by M Scott Peck), she followed this gospel to the letter. Bea knows Bea. She projects an aura that she is very comfortable with her skin. She is that woman who you go to and have wine and she just listens intently and gives you that perfect panacea to what ails you. So are you getting a feel for what this woman is and her potential? Yes indeed, I know these things. Israel is ready for the second coming. She is the Chosen One.

Since Day 1. I am rooting for Katrina Dimaranan to win the crown, but unfortunately it's not her destiny and it's judges and organization's decision. So heartbreaking 💔💔💔 Nevertheless Goodluck to Bea on her Miss Universe Journey. I hope they will allow Katrina first to compete on December and Bea for 2022 🙏🙏🙏

From an ordinary follower like me, here's my issue with MUP. Jonas Gaffud should have never been part of this organization. It's a conflict of interest since he runs a beauty camp that participates in this pageant. Obvious bias na iyan because he holds an unfair advantage over the other beauty camps or contestants. The ultimate decision of winners will come from the organization not the judges. Bea, may or may not have benefitted from this. Also, people shell out their hard earned money to pay for their pay per view segments and deserve more than their substandard productions.
