I have a Titan Ballast Box for my Kubota BX 2380. This video shows the modifications I've made to make it heavy enough... almost 400 lbs... and still leave enough space for plenty of tool stowage.

I really need to stop watching so many videos when planning a project... just when I thought I had my ballast box configuration figured out, I found your video! Thanks for sharing - you gave me some great ideas! Learned the hard way about putting heavy loads in the bucket without ballast... my inexperience cost me some $$$ lol. And I'm in NW Ohio... so I feel your pain!

Sorry about your costly lesson. I've had a few of those. It cost me $60 to have a mechanic connect a wire I had knocked loose once. It happens! Glad I could give you some good ideas! And hey... will it ever stop snowing?!?!?! Lol

Great video. I've seen a lot of ballast box videos but yours takes the cake. Thanks for the great ideas.

Very nice and most of all well though out. I do have trouble with the OSB bc it has a tendency to swell when wet. A custom dolly would have been better for storage that you would keep in ur garage. Overall, kudos to u!
@samsdoinstuff Жыл бұрын
Funny you should say that about the OSB... it has since delaminated. I'll make another one out of treated plywood 👍

Hahahaha! Thanks for pointing that out. I just removed it 🙄 that ballast box build was fun and that space is very handy now that it's not just a metal box. I'm think about adding a fold down shelf on the back to use as a work bench.
@MJADoingStuff2 жыл бұрын
@@samsdoinstuff Man we think 🤔 alike I put a removable vise and work bench on the back of my ballast box too😂👍🚜💨💡

I have the same tractor and was just curious if you ran into any problems with the size of that box and problems with it riding too low to the ground? Great video!
@samsdoinstuff Жыл бұрын
I've never had any problems with this ballast box other than backing into things because it extends out so far, but that's operator error. It rides high enough that I can load in and out of my dump trailer without scraping the ground. I do wish I had something better looking, but it functions as intended.

This is exactly how my grandpa constructed stuff

That’s a neat idea, using the weights like that. The wood on the insert is going to swell when it gets wet., and probably trap moisture, which may cause rust and make it hard to remove, if you need to. I was all set to cast a solid block of concrete. Then I thought…what do I do with it when it’s not needed anymore. How do you get rid of 300 lbs of solid concrete? Blasting not an option.
@samsdoinstuff2 жыл бұрын
Thank you!!! The wood insert definitely takes some "gentle persuasion" to get it in and out but it works. I may paint it black someday, but it's totally fine for now.
@brianmapes62022 жыл бұрын
like that quick change attachment you have one there. might i ask where you got it?
@samsdoinstuff2 жыл бұрын
The quick hitch is from Harbor Freight. I hand to grind down the top hook to get it to fit but I think it's the least expensive one out there at $99.

I have the same box. I was surprised that it isn’t even close to 132lbs. The shipping sticker said 98lbs.
@samsdoinstuff2 жыл бұрын
Wow! I never "officially" weighed it. The nice thing about my setup is if I feel like I don't have enough, I can put even more in the box. Guess I'm not too surprised they misrepresented the actual weight 🙄
@randallthomas52072 жыл бұрын
Suggestion: Get a few bolt on chain hook, or eyes, and bolt them onto the front of your insert, to give you a place to attach the tails of your chains. the boxes are just a little too deep to conveniently reach into when you need the chain out.
