My Titanic sinking theory is that the ship could not stay afloat from the weight of all the time-traveling 'thrill-seeking' tourists from the future who sneaked aboard to experience its sinking.

Another thing that caused a list to port and sped up water ingress was a gangway door open on the port side hull. That’s a large opening even on a ship of this size.

There's just one problem with the second theory, and that's the fact that the last boat - Collapsible D, located right at the front - was launched at 2:05am.

I remember reading somewhere years ago of an analysis done that looked at what would have happened if Titanic took the iceberg head on. It suggested far from saving the ship, it would have smashed Titanic's keel out opening the underside to the sea. It would have caused the ship to black out almost instantly, capsizing and sinking in minutes, possibly telling no tales. Titanic's fate would be unknown to the world, and the wreck would probably look like a train crash on the bottom with no keel to hold things together. This study also looked at the White Star's purported massive gash theory (their massive ship HAD to be taken down by a massive injury, after all...). Again Titanic sinks in minutes (something that should have thrown red flags to the engineers of the day) capsizing again if I remember. I wish I could find this study, it could be interesting to revisit here.

Imagine being in the engine room when the ship split in half either you would have instantly been killed by falling machinery or you would survive to see the room filling with blood stained water

We may never have an accurate account of the sinking, there are always new theories being presented.

One thing that just occurred to me....the Titanic sank on an even keel. One would think that with the damage to the starboard side, and with water flooding her from the damage, she would have capsized, but she didn't. Does that suggest that Captain Smith was counter-flooding to keep her on an even keel, presumably to aide in the launching of the ship's lifeboats?
