Kramnik and the emotional loss in the Candidates would put anyone in a lot of stress and they would have every right to feel under the water. All things considered, if the only thing Hikaru is doing differently is falling to the pressure of money and streaming sponsored gambling he is handling his current situation exceptionally well.

Bro people are so weird about this issue. He's a grown man who can make his own decisions and gambling is legal. Would everyone be freaking out if he went and streamed a night out at the casino? What is it about specifically streamers doing online gambling, a perfectly legal activity, that makes people go so insane?

Because they have a large influence on their viewers and this will result in more people gambling. Why do you think they pay him to do it. Before you mention that kick is 18+ and adults can do whatever they want, I've worked with gamblers most of my career and have seen countless lives ruined by it, shameful.

They use high profile people to scam fans, mostly kids, and everything they do is currently unregulated as they "operate" outside the US, in an unoccupied shack in some obscure country. Hikaru is likely unaware of the details surrounding them, and he should be made aware

He literally used his talents to be one of the best content creators out there all while being one of the top players in the world. Two different worlds, and he's still on top on both. I don't see any other top player doing that to the degree he has.

From my perspective, I think content creation is like a raft in the turbulent seas of the chess world. Being a pro athlete requires a significant amount of your mental capacity. The memes are his way of blowing off steam, returning to his “zen” mindset, where he can find quickly get back into his groove. Imagine having writer’s block, but having to complete your magnum opus by the end of the day. If you don’t have a reliable method of finding your center and delivering results in spite of the drowning emotions that come from the external and internal pressure, you won’t survive. All conjecture of course… But as an artist, I think I have picked up a bit of how he approaches his own artistic journey. He’s definitely someone I admire.

@@luckyeris I admire Hikaru too. I believe he is a better chess player than he lets himself to be. What he does is good as a creative..but he is also a phenomenal chess player..It doesn't have to be either or. Hikaru needs to find that balance. He can be a creative through most tournaments..but candidates and WC are moments where he needs to focus on the greater purpose. Only Hikaru can decide where his balance lies... My argument is that he is easily surrendering to the cheaper result...

I appreciate the fact that he constantly puts out high-quality content for us to learn from.
