Really enjoyed this video gents. Very thorough review of Titleist's brand new suite of wedges! The one thing I thought was noteworthy was the measured decrease in spin rate on the 56 SM9. To me, that was a bit of a surprise. I would have expected the 56 to be in the 9500 RPM range - as it was when you threw in the SM8 as a comparative. The control that the SM9s offered was exceptional - and at the end of the day that is really what you're after in a wedge. Consistency and control. Great job doing this run down for us!

It is probably attributed to the attack angle, & ball flight although not intentional my attack angle was shallower with SM9 by 1* and I didn't hit the SM8 as far left - Thomas

SM8s have been my favorite wedges I've ever played. Also my SM8s need replacing so I'm looking at this for sure.

Just ordered the SM9 ….54(14) F & 58 (14) K + nippon shaft with Lamkin Sonar+ mid grips X-Mass wil be in February and unfortunately indoor cause the Canadian winter……but I won’t have to wait 8 + weeks in may….

Thomas, what do you think about going to a little flatter lie angle for your wedges? I think that's more for shots around the green but I did notice that your 52 and 56 were a little left so a flatter lie might have worked for your 10:30 swings.

good video but lets be honest regardless of what turf your using when you Chunk a wedge on mats it's gonna still go almost the full distance, now do that on grass and it's a different story! Love the content keep it up though Still trying to get my hands on a 17 degree Callaway uw because of your video

Can you use a 56 D grind in the sand, or are these wedges just intended to be used around the green?

Thomas - what bounce did you hit in the F Grind? And what would you play normally if you would fit yourself? You’re obviously shallow and controlled, so wonder if you prefer the 08 or the 12* bounce? What wedges grinds/bounce would you play with your setup?

I hit the 08 bounce. With my shallow attack angle in the gap that is where I would go. I would play 52 08 F 56 10 S & 60 08 M most of the year if I played Vokey wedges. I may change up the bounce in my 60 when playing in different locations like Florida, Texas and Hawaii. - Thomas

If my irons are 1/2" longer and 2 degrees upright (based on ping chart), should I make the same modifications to my wedges?

My irons are the same as yours. I've read several articles that say as you go up in loft with your wedges the club lie angle should flatten. Your gap wedge should be about 1 degree flatter and your lob should be about 2 degrees flatter. I think the reasoning behind this was you are less likely to make a full swing with your wedges so they don't need to be as upright as your irons. I am not a fitter so you may want to look more into this yourself. There are a few articles out there on this subject.

What's the thought on a 8 iron shaft in a wedge?

That would be +1" so if you are tall it would be a good fit but if you are shorter I wouldn't touch it - Thomas

To clarify, we are big proponents of having multiple bounces in the bag!

You want to have versatility in your bag! For example don't go 10, 10, 10 have different bounces especially if you play more than 1 golf course- Thomas

They have been made there for a while now. You will note that other manufacturers are pushing $200 a wedge a now. I still believe SM9's are a great value - Thomas

I use a Full Swing golf simulator and have a hard time hitting anything more lofted than a PW without it hitting above the screen. For $55k it kinda pisses me off!
