@@memify317 Incomparable is not necessarily unsurpassable. Who would you compare him to? And who surpasses his vitality and spirit? Gobbi to my ear and eye is incomparable. I’m pretty taken by Juan Diego Flores singing this. He too is unique but doesn’t need to be compared to Gobbi. There are a number of others.

Fantastique Tito Gobbi. Certainement le plus grand baryton de sa génération. Impressionnant par sa puissance (2 mn 43 ; 4 mn 33 ) et son aisance (4 mn 10). Je ne me lasse pas. Il a beaucoup chanté avec Maria Callas. que du bonheur à l'état pur.

Uno dei massimi baritoni di ogni tempo..voce eccezionale che univa tecnica,estensione, fraseggio perfetto,sicurezza di emissione nitidissima,bellezza.Il talento attoriale poi strepitoso,mai banale,sempre accattivante e presenza scenica più unica che rara.E' sempre questione di gusti l'arte ma Tito Gobbi è nell'olimpo della storia dell'opera lirica,un maestro inarrivabile fra i baritoni.

The black and white version from 1946 was twice as fast as this. He still was the best Figaro period. No one filled the shoes of this rakish prankster with so much vocal color and nuance.

infrantasi Bastianini's "Figaro e canto" has more vigor, virility and excitement--but Gobbi is the more expert actor. Great exuberance and charm. Regrettably, Bastianini was rarely given free reign in comedy where is acting skills were arguably better suited. With Simionato his 1960 "Anything You Can Do.." Fledermaus Gala rendition was geniunely hilarious. When playing the villain one sometimes wonders whether Bastianini had the capacity to sufficiently relish evil in performance. Nevertheless, his voice dramatic was resplendent.

@@donjose8250 j'aime beaucoup Gobbi, une très bonne voix ( surtout les graves) et surtout ( et c'était ce qui le démarquait ) un talent d'acteur et d'interprétation hors pair. Mais ses aigus laissaient à désirer, ils n'avaient pas la profondeur et la facilité de ses graves. Alors que Ruffo, quelle voix !! D'après moi la plus grande voix de tous les temps après Caruso. Des graves de basse, des aigus d'une puissance et d'une profondeur phénoménale avec l'aisance d'un ténor dramatique. D'après moi le plus grand baryton de tous les temps !

@@donjose8250 oui je ne suis pas du genre fanboy rejettant n'importe quel chanteur autre que mon préféré. D'après moi, les deux plus grands enregistrements du largo al factotum sont celui de Titta Ruffo et celui d'Apollo Granforte. J'aime aussi énormément celui de Stracciari et aussi celui de Merrill ! J'aime beaucoup Gobbi dans Tosca et Don Giovanni par contre !

@@donjose8250j'adore Warren et Bastianini aussi. Je viens de découvrir Galeffi et il est incroyable, la qualité du son est aussi incroyable pour l'époque (celui de 1916) ! Il a le poids d'un baryton dramatique mais une voix assez aiguë, parfaite pour Figaro. Merci pour cette découverte ! Mais je reste sur mes positions et je penses toujours que Granforte est le plus grand, en plus on l'a en vidéo ! Et sans lip-sync !
