Extraordinary footage from 1979 of Latin music king Tito Puente and his Puerto Rican big band in full flight at an outdoors street party in New York.

The King of Latin Music since the 50s !!!!! That's the great Frankie Figueroa ''Mr Estilo'' or ''El Boxiador'' on vocals. He is original and can't be imitated. I saw him in person when he sang with Puente during the early '70s at Barney Googles and the Corso in Manhattan's E86th St. & 3rd Ave. They were very memorable shows.

It’s a cover of Tubo del Guaguanco (you might check the version of Babo Jimenez) hence you might like both 💪

0:52 Love the apathetic and hostile whites not understanding shit. On their defense, it’s not a great song, brilliant timbales solo not withstanding.
@akhnatenra2439 Жыл бұрын
Are you an Expert on Latin Music? I don't think so, you sounds more like an other Ignorant White doing critical remarks about something you don't understand. About the two whites not enjoying the music who really cares, they don't belong there anyway .

Terrible composition and the worst singer Puente ever had. But Puente’s solo makes up for the deficient arrangement.

Every singer had their own style but he’s okay man
@guidolebronbaritone Жыл бұрын
@@musicalgenius02 He’s not ok. Specially in proportion to the Orchestra he’s with. Towards the end, Puente decided to have no singer at all or a singer that wouldn’t overshadow the band. Who knows why? And this guy had good moments. He’s biggest challenge was his lack of Spanish vocabulary and his oversimplification and predictable clave interpretation.

@@guidolebronbaritone Stop bad mouthing MR ESTILO !!!! He started his international career singing ''7 NOCHES'' in 1967. It is a great bolero and the ladies in Panama & Colombia loved his singing. He worked steady until his recent retirement from music. Frankie Figueroa is also a retired NYC Paramedic/Driver of the NYC Dept of Hospitals. I remember him with his 5 groupies arriving at a Bronx club with his new Lincoln wearing a Superfly hat. (1975). He is an original showman known as ''El Boxiador''. Pura Crema , pa' que lo sepas !!!!!

@@fasteddie9055 All the crap you wrote is irrelevant to the music. Besides, I’m not badmouthing him. I did say he had his moments. The problem with social media, KZfaq, etc., is that now, anybody with a phone is a musician, pilot, architect, immunologist, etc.. Too much democracy.
