I feel like "Standard Class" should just be "Basic Class" because that reads better to me. As for the micro-line that has smaller-scale characters, could just be under the "Legends" or "Classics" line (which, sure, have already been used but this is Transformers).

I heard Takara doesn't do size classes I wonder if Hasbro did that if people would be more forgiving to certain figures for being too small for their size class if they didn't all have to be 1 of the like 6 stock price points

gonna guess the classes are more a thing for stores than anything hasbro wants to bother using themselves...stores tend to breka up spaces based on size of the toys so...

@@brokenserenity01stores usually use 1-2 shelf spots (4ft shelf length) for figures and put cheap top lowering expensive as away to kinda organize things but with how much shelf space there is vs 4 size classes on a shelf you could definitely redo it to have 5 or 6 size classes and still be fine space wise

according to TFWiki what Takara’s markets used to do a lot is that they can order a single box with multiple copies of a single character while a single box for Hasbro contains multiple different characters in the same size range I believe the Hasbro way is the more common way they’ve been doing it since the unification, unless it’s a Takara headed pack

Uh......yeah. Yeah, I have no complaints with this assesment of TF size classes and what prices to put them at. Sounds logical enough to me. I also like the idea of a "Micro World" continuous sub-line that offers all the big names you want in small packages.

I'm certainly no economist, but this all sounds very reasonable to me. Prices have definitely gotten nuts lately. And while I probably personally wouldn't partake too often of it, I really like your "once a wave, one character is somebody one size class down." That's a good way to get characters into kids hands better.

This is the best overhaul of the horrendous TF size class I've seen yet! I think the reason transformer's are so expensive is cause of the engineering? Could be wrong but eh, i do wish they were cheaper, no kid is gonna be able to get a toy over 30 bucks at most lol

I had a similar idea with regards to the new Deluxe G1 Optimus that's coming out. If the idea is a success (ofcourse it's just one figure so far but i hope they are planning future releases much like Takara is planning more Missing Link) then the OP becomes the literal measuring stick for a whole new separate "Neo G1" (or just call it ReGeneration 1) line. We've seen how Hasbro has manipulated the sizes classes: small voyagers like SS86 HotRod, Earthrise "leader" Optimus Prime, etc etc. So within the same Deluxe class we can have as many as 3 different size: - the tall deluxe (think Optimus, Megatron, Soundwave, etc) - the avg deluxe (think the Autobot cars and Decepticon Seekers, combiner limbs) - the small deluxe (mini bots, micromasters, the cassettes, etc) The budget saved from the small deluxe would go into making the tall deluxe so that balances out. The voyagers are then the bigger, more complex bots like Skyfire/Jetfire, The Dinobots, the main torso piece for combiners, an Ultra Magnus or an Optimus w/trailer, triple changers, Headmasters, Power Masters. Leader class you could use to sell 2-packs (2 tall deluxes) or 3-packs with one of each of the 3 dulexe sizes. Commander class could be reserved for selling Combiner sets (if the individual bots arent made available), city bots, Omega Supreme, Titan class I would reserve for making playsets. The oil rig from the original mini series, the Arc but this time just the main control area we saw for most of the series, same for Decepticon base, the corkscrew ship from the 86 movie, and speaking of the 86 movie...a UNICRON!

I do like how the handling of the G1 big names. One of my biggest gripes in how the waves are handled a lot of the time (most particularly at the start of a year is to heavy load a lot of the same characters with only like 1 or 2 "others" to fill it out. so after I buy the 2 guys that havent gotten attention since 2003 or whatever, I'm just stuck with ANOTHER G1 Bumblebee, ANOTHER G1/G2 Optimus. Or it at least feels that way. Having it to be where each wave gives each of the more average size classes a big name to catch stores' attention feels like the better move

If there’s anything we the community/fans need to protest for its THIS, WFC Legacy and the Prime lines are new engineering/designs so with that it’s time for a change. With this change redoing the sizes/pricing it’ll make fans and retailers happy that there’s something new and better affordable it won’t make everyone happy but it’s definitely a better move than nothing and continuing to annoy people. I’ve seen the argument of your adults into kids toys who cares well 1 some of these figures are aimed towards older audiences like the unicron trilogy is 20+ years old kids that grew up with that are adults now and 2 if adults can’t afford it how do you expect kids to, like a leader in Canada after tax is like 90$ way overpriced for alot of the leaders we have currently. Maybe at the next event we can reasonably and peacefully bring up size class changes cause it needs and update badly

What I agree with most from this video is that the costs are too high. As an adult collector (really started back in ‘06-‘07), I’ve already established my “retirement” for the end of 2026. I’m realizing that there doesn’t seem to be much of anything left for Hastak to release in celebration of the ‘86 movie, but either way, at the end of that year I’m bowing-out no matter what. While display space is also a factor in me retiring, the prices are the main reason. It also needs to be said that these price increases have 100% affected how much I purchase. For about 3 years now, anything that I’m on the fence about essentially becomes a non-purchase. With this, these increased costs affect how critical I am of each figure. Meaning, “nit-picks” that I would have overlooked if prices were lower are now justification as to why I don’t buy most figures.

So we'll have a standard class at $16 for small characters (Netflix Bumblebee height), and two packs of the smallest like cassettes or minicons which all fit in the main scale. Then we would have Standard Microworld, which would have the smaller big name characters at the same size as other standards, but in the different scale. Then we have deluxe class at $22 for the current deluxe size (Siege Refraktor height), which will also fit into the main scale and also Microworld, with the larger big name characters here like Prime and Megatron. Next class is Mega ($33), which will be the final in Microworld with the Giants like Jetfire/Scorponok, and the main scale for Mega will pretty much be our current voyagers (ex. Kingdom Cyclonus.) After that is Ultra Class, replacement for current leader which will be $45 for either "bigger Megas" like Legacy Prime Dreadwing, or "complexer Megas" like Legacy Blitzwing. Following this would be commander, renamed Supreme at $90, and Titan at ~$200, staying mostly the same. If I'm hearing this right I think it's a great idea and would help the line. The only suggestion I do have is for characters like Earthrise Doubledealer, or SS86 Hot Rod, who could be put in the "plus" category. What I mean by this is Hot Rod in this system would be sold as a Deluxe Plus, for $5-7 more than normal deluxe price to equal out the extra accessories. Same with Doubledealer as a Mega Plus.

I’m on board with the the price point scale, but I do think the Deluxe should be an actual 6 inch figure in line with the other lines Hasbro produces. As for the standard scale they should be your 3-4 inch figure or two packs. Here’s where this becomes a thought: do the two packs for micro masters, smaller Rock Lords, cassettes, mini cons, and Battle Beast (let’s bring this back). For the deluxe you could include your “regular sized” transformers, larger Rock Lords, Go-Bots (Turbo, Scooter, and Crasher), and Battle Beast companion Bots. For the classes beyond they would line up with your thoughts. I just feel Hasbro is sitting on too many IP’s that they don’t explore anymore.

I kinda like the idea of making it that all of the classes except the Titans named after Military Ranks So a replacement for Core/Generations Legends/Basic (what I think your Standard Class was going for) would become "Private Class" Deluxe would become "Specialist Class" Voyager would become "Sergeant Class" Leader would becokme "Captain Class" And Commander would become "General Class" Please note I don't know military ranks so I may have gone out of order, in part taking from police ranking rather than military from watching Brooklyn 99, if people have names that better fit the rank structure, feel free.

Releasing minibots in "standard"/basic/core/legends size class - this has already been done whereas I've been wanting the undersized deluxe minibots to be completed ever since Classics Bumblebee and that approach has never been finished so they should continue as they are (ideally with some extra accessories to make up the value - I know no-one really wanted the Wavecrusher but it was worth the price as a toy - Imagine jetpacks, actionmaster helipacks/skateboards/etc....) Size class naming: Beast Wars had it right but they have, as far as I can tell, always been looking for something less underwhelming to name the bottom size price point than "basic". "Voyager" hasn't made sense since the basic size was called "scout" but, in fairness, a re-name from "mega" was perhaps merited because they did bump the size up a bit. Now that Voyagers are a bit smaller, reverting to the "mega" name would make sense. I'm not convinced that incorporating two different scales within the pricing structure is helpful. Except that the new toy version deluxe Prime perhaps justifies the toy universe toys (assuming they do more - as I hope they will) being smaller scale.

Here’s my take on size classes: *Mini Class* ($4.99) Built around the littlest of little dudes- Mini-Cassettes, Mini-Cons, and even armored human characters. Think old Legion Class with the same level of complexity. Wave 1 would be G1 Ravage, Cybertron Safeguard (for Vector Prime), and Animated Sari Sumdac (post-upgrade). *Scout Class* ($9.99) Think Prime Wars Legends Class lads. Split between Mini-Bots, Spy Changers, small but not tiny characters, and small versions of franchise mainstays. Wave 1 is a new HFTD-style Hubcap, Cybertron Ransack, and a G1 Hound. *Warrior Class* ($14.99) Post-2019 “standard” Deluxe Class lads. Wave 1 is Beast Hunters Smokescreen, Animated Jazz, G2 Hooligan (Energon Starscream retool incoming), and Beast Wars Quickstrike. Also, an A-level assortment of big names (ex: Armada Optimus and Prime Bumblebee or EarthSpark Megatron and Cyberverse Soundwave). *Voyager Class* ($24.99) The size of the average WFC Voyager (so no 86 Hot Rod situations). Wave 1 is G2 Hero Optimus and Stormbringer Megatron. *Ultra Class* ($39.99) Home to figures that are “old Voyager” sized and/or require heavy engineering (like Triple Changers). Wave 1 is Cybertron Crumplezone and G1 Broadside. *Leader Class* ($49.99) Reserved solely for Prime Wars-sized Leaders. Wave 1 is Animated Lugnut. *Commander Class ($79.99) Remains as is aside from docking $10 from the price point and changing it to the biggest you can get (we can only do so many more big lads before looping back around to the same idiots who started the price point). Wave 1 is pure JG1 Overlord.

I’ve been operating off of a Deluxe/Voyager/Leader/Commander model for my last few pitches, but now that I’ve got a framework that works around Hasbro’s worst choices from the last few years. Oh, and we’d go back to two years of toylines with six waves per line a la Titans Return.

I think the best thing for deluxe and mega is to add one extra toy per size class. Like, typically there are 4 deluxes, so 5, and typically there are 2 voyagers, so 3. The extra space allows for wider variety, the extra slot could fulfill the legacy character of the microworld (dubbed microbots?) and it also keeps the idea of a versus set in the mega wave. Like, one of my favorite things about Siege is how it has it has Optimus and Megatron ate the intermediate size class together in the first wave. So, allowing for two slots keeps rivalries of partnerships a possibility l.
@Martynde
@Martynde 3 күн бұрын
I’d keep the size classes exactly as they are now except I’d keep Core class and bring back Battle Masters and Micromasters from Siege. There would be more integration with the small toys with the Deluxe and larger toys such as a leader class pretender Thunderwing with a core class inner robot that can fit inside the leader toy. There would be no separate toyline for the cartoon. The cartoon characters would be included in the Generations line alongside characters from various past toylines. There would not be characters at multiple size points and gimmicks. The Optimus Prime and Bumblebee of a new cartoon would only have one toy. A smaller character that would be too big for a small class (ie bigger than Core but too small for Deluxe) would have partners instead of useless accessories to make up the cost.

I believe it's a great idea, Hasbro is not making themselves a favor from giving a Voyager class looking Transformer into a Leader and giving it that price, it's insane! Said it before, Deluxe class have jumped from 19,99$ to a whopping 35$, and even over 40$! What are they thinking? No wonder they stay on pegs and shelves for so long! This needs to be addressed and corrected, Hasbro will still make money if they make these adjustements, no more superfluous accessories to jack up the price, United Deluxe Animated Bumblebee should not be over 40$! (Talking about Canadian prices here). Nothing makes sense in the sizes and prices anymore and it has to stop.

Here's the thing... I do not care about scale. I would keep the size classes for the people who do and can afford it. But I would go back to when you could find multiple versions of a character at different size classes and leave it up to consumer which one they want. I would get rid of things like having Warrior and Deluxe because those aren't different size classes. Thrash is literally the same mold just with a different accessory. Why is there a $5 price difference for literally the same thing? I would expect one to be a Deluxe and one to be a smaller cheaper version otherwise why are you spending $5 more for the Deluxe? Voyagers, some of them I think are worth the price but then you have figures like Optimus Primal who I constantly forget is a Voyager because he looks and feels like a Deluxe class. And this isn't even a new problem, Mega Beast Machines Megatron is the same size as Deluxe Optimus Primal. The only reason he was sold as a Mega is because all of the figures were packaged in alt mode at the time and Megatron's wing span wouldn't fit into a deluxe sized package but that figure has always felt like a rip off compared to other Mega class figures that were released at the time because of how much smaller he is. Leaders, again most of them I think are worth it at their size... granted you could argue that Shockwave and Astrotrain could be sold as Voyagers if you just didn't include their extra parts... but Blitzwing only has 2 extra parts in comparison to them. How are Astrotrain and Blitzwing the same price point if they both have the same level of complexity but Astrotrain has an entire caboose that comes with him loaded with extra accessories and Blitzwing has hulk hands? These are not the same. I can justify Astrotrain a lot easier than I can Blitzwing, I still don't like it but I'll accept it. You either need to pack in more accessories on the same level as other Leaders or remove the extra accessories and just sell the base figure as a Voyager. I personally would not mind scaled down and simplified versions of things... like I really want the Ark and Nemesis but I can not afford nor do I have space for Titans. Tidal Wave is another example where I think they should not have made the Titan with removable parts specifically for combining with Megatron. They should have made two entirely separate figures, the Titan version that is just not made to combine at all and then a smaller cheaper version that is made to combine with Megatron. What we got was designed to make everyone happy but it really doesn't because I don't want to buy a Titan. All I wanted was a smaller version that combines with Megatron while still giving him full range of articulation. I do not have the space for a Titan, that's too big and I'm not willing to spend more than $50 on any Transformer. I don't care how nice it looks that's just too much for me. I'm not going to stop anyone else from getting giant Tidal Wave who wants it, that's why I like the idea of having multiple versions, that's how you actually make everyone happy. You make the giant version for those who just want a giant Tidal Wave and you make a smaller cheaper version for those who just want a combiner and don't care about scale. I don't need a giant play set with my Ark and Nemesis. You can simplify them without all the ramps and other gimmicks that pop out. I'd take them at Leader class size... I'd even take Deluxe class. Honestly if every character released as a Deluxe I'd never buy any other size class. Well maybe I still would... I didn't get Optimus Prime when he was a Deluxe cause he couldn't do the combiner thing... so in some cases shrinking them down might simplify them too much but just give me the option so I can grab the one I want at the price point that works for my budget instead of I can either never own this character or spend way more than I think it should be worth. Options are good.

Why Standard? Why not call it Basic? That's kind of where Deluxe came from. Especially with you namechecking Mega, Ultra and Supreme as well. Might as well go all the way back to Beast Wars naming conventions.

There should not be many commander class toys. I can think of only a few. The Magmatron, SkyLynx, Omega Supreme, Overlord. These are the bots that are too big for the ultra class, but too small for the titan class.
