During the 2022 IDA Conference, a workshop was held about looking after Tjakuṟa to share stories and activate discussion about the Indigenous-led National Recovery Plan for the Great Desert Skink.
This recording shares Indigenous knowledge, scientific research and practical skills for Indigenous rangers working together to save this culturally significant desert animal. Expert trackers facilitated a field trip to Katiti-Petermann IPA to teach rangers how to identify active burrows.
Thank you to Jeremy Kenny, Ranger Coordinator from Central Land Council's Tjakura Rangers for hosting the trip.
Palya!
