Canada's soccer sucks, they only hire Brits and Irish coaches who only pick tall and fast black guys but NO substance or intelligent coordination, just like Senegal or Cameroon who never go anywhere. You can't go far with fast and tall guys. A football that only involves long passes and brute force will never win against Holland, Argentina or even lesser teams like Denmark or Switzerland that play like chess.
@JohnSmith-oe5kx
@JohnSmith-oe5kx Ай бұрын
@@alienlatino2945 That is a very simplistic comment. National sports teams in Canada are hampered by geography; our best players are frequently separated by distances that span a continent--if they are not on another continent entirely. It can obviously be difficult to achieve a real cohesion between players. However, the quality of the players is improving, as is the MLS (our geographically enormous "domestic" league in which we are dwarfed by the US). The better the players become, the better they can adapt to being sporadically thrown together to form a team--our hockey superstars generally manage to do ok.

Not all players are like that, but there's a lot. The famous "Hand of God" of Maradona is actually a shame, not a feat, in my opinion. But that's also part of a culture of seeing football as a metaphore of life, where cheating is part of it. For countries that don't take sport that religiously, or that have internalized the respect of the rules (e.g. Germany), cheating and dishonesty is not part of it. Yea some (NOT all, SOME) of the south american teams play "futbol sucio" and it's unfortunate because they don't need to do that, they're good enough and talented enough to play a clean, respectful and sportsmanlike game but they always devolve into bad attitude rough fouls, crowding refs, fighting and the rest. Some of the things I saw in the Uruguay-Colombia game were very shocking and despicable. It's not a good way to act for society or for future generations of young kids watching and learning. THat said, buena suerte to Colombia they're a fantastic team

I really appreciate how both Marsch and Bielsa are not holding back in their criticism of the bosses responsible for these various problems. They understand that the only possibility of getting them to do better in the future is to put them under massive, serious, internationally publicised heat.

Jesse Marsch is an American, and probably a very proud one. He clearly transmits the importance of pride in one's country to his Canadian players, which is what a true national team leader does. As a Canadian, I am proud and happy to have a man such as this leading our national team. Please, please, keep Jesse Marsch and give him every resource possible to help our team get to the next level, the signs are so encouraging.

Coach Marsch could have kept quiet and taken the high road but I’m happy he spoke the truth

Fantastic that Marsch is calling out some of the BS. Also kudos to giving Bombito some media face time - I like very much what I see with Moise - so much so that I find myself feeling proud. He's going to be a top shelf CB in a few years. Can't wait to see that. Cornelius has also impressed.

I love Jesse Marsh. He even sings the Canadian national anthem. And what an absolute stud for calling out the south american refs. They are absolute scumbags.

Thank you Jesse Marsch for standing up for football as a SPORT ! The administrators, officials, influencers, coaches, players, fans see football as a culture! Culture comparable to the bold and the beautiful thing with drama and emotions. Football is first and foremost sport !!
