Dave This video really assisted me in forming a process that provides flexibility and yet structure. I am preparing an index of each process and will refer to the index when I need to modify an image using TK9. Your notes are very helpful. I normally watch the video with notes in hand; then edit the image using the notes. Looking forward to next Friday!

Hey Dave, Jose from Puerto Rico. This TK Friday was wonderful. I learned something that had confused me before, but seeing how you did it, now I got it. It was applying the different percentages of gray on the foreground to the same layer. Sometimes I get confused on how to apply things to a certain layer and this tutorial reinforced the concept. Thanks again man!

Another amazing transformation of a good image to a great one. I love TK Friday’s and have watched and reproduce, enough to start using them on my own files. I’ll be sending you a couple of my images to see what you can do.

This is Bow Fiddle Rock which is about 60 miles away from where I live 😃 Thanks for the mention Tony, what I would really like to know though is how you got rid of those really annoying icons on the masks!
@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly

I didn’t update Photoshop yet, that is the reason for no icons on my masks.

Those layer mask icons are called "badges" and, as Dave alludes to, they are Photoshop-version dependent. They showed up in the latest product version of Ps 2024. Adobe added them by default (unfortunately, it seems). There is no way to turn them off in the product version of Ps, but if you use Ps Beta (version 25.3.0) you can go to the Layers panel options (menu in upper right corner) and choose "Panel Options..." from the fly-out menu. Then uncheck "Show layer mask badges" in the dialog window that open. Doing that turns them off permanently. This option will hopefully be coming to the product version of Ps soon also. So, just to be clear, these badges are entirely an Adobe thing. They are in no way related to TK9.

I learn something new from you every week Dave! I sincerely appreciate it. I love intersecting channels with layer masks in TK9. I woke up this morning trying to figure out how to do this manually just for kicks. Here I am 4 hours later and no luck LOL. I am getting close. However, I am not quite there yet. Wow, this panel saves so much time. Thanks.

I love how there's always something new to learn. Thanks for another great tutorial Dave. I think I'll have to run through this again, there's so much in it. What would we do without Tony's brilliant panels? This work would take much longer, that's for sure. Your training videos are our best way of learning on varied images. Thank you Dave, Thank you Tony and Thank you Sean Bagshaw!

Blend If is crazy useful. The recent improvements on the TK panel are just *awesome*. I LOVE using it. Thank you guys... Tony, Dave, Sean et al... for your excellent collaborative work. Finally, a plugin that makes PS usable without sweat and tears! Bet Adobe has noticed! ;-)

Great lesson Dave. I use color grading, blend if, and the calculator on every image. Using the fill tool on a group mask is a great idea.

Really enjoyed this edit, I thought the section where you applied various levels of gray Fill to add the amount of clarity and detail to specific areas on the smart object layer was brilliant and so many other useful techniques - thanks Dave. A VERY Happy Thanksgiving to you and Tony and thank you for all the great tutorials in 2023. You make editing a joy!

Couldn't work out how Step 13 had any impact since adjustment was below a stamped layer, then realized that the 30% fill on the stamped layer/smart object was letting some of the change to the lower adjustment come through. Might be something worth pointing out if you do something like this again.

Thanks for another great video. I'm curious why you didn't add a radial gradient to brighten the central rock to draw our eyes to it, as opposed to darkening the other rocks in the foreground?

Great question. I did try that but opted for the way I did it in the video because it was more pleasing to my eye.

question I have been meaning to ask. After coming from LrC and then editing, what's the best way to get the edited pic back to LR? Flatten and then close which goes back to LR? Then if you want to re-edit in PS when you go back all your layers are gone. How do you do it?

Hi Dave. I have been working on this image and have come up with a problem in Step 6. When I make the beach selection and click on "My Channels", Adobe gives me an error message "Type error: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'span ACTIVESELECTION')". Is this something you know about or should I contact Tony? Thanks for your help.
