Brandon Flowers as an artist has reached a level of writing and arranging that few have attained. While previous Killer compositions were catchy and pop like, enjoyable, this body of work with Pressure Machine is a brilliant masterpiece. I place this record with the likes of In My Tribe by 10,000 Maniacs. Try to pick a favorite song and you will have a new one shortly after listening to the others after a short time. A terrific "concept" record. I never thought I would put the Killers in the same musical genre genius of REM or 10,000 Maniacs. People that compare Brandon Flowers lyrical writing with The Boss are selling Flowers short. I do not think Bruce Springsteen has ever used the phrases so fittingly in his songs such as "laughed it off like lemonade" or "when the mountain comes back to life it doesn't come from without, it comes from within." This record 100% deserves a Grammy. As a Project Recording Studio owner I am very critical of music. I don't very often praise an artists work to this degree. I have apparently offended fans of other musicians by giving objective critical opinions. Nothing to improve on this masterpiece of art.

There are so many instances of interesting sonic "ear candy" that is incorporated along with the various choice of instrumentation. The producers and mixing engineer should have Grammys also. Have a listen to the band James if you don't already know them well. Their songwriting and sound is different, but absolutely on par. You can start with "Sit Down" and "Laid" if you like, which will come up first, but "Moving On" or the much older "She's a Star" are better in my opinion.

For me Hot stuff and Sam's Town still rate in my top 10 albums. I have to admit I have struggled with Pressure machine but will admit that Quiet Town is a classic track. 👍

I adore the Killers and have done for a long time but wow who knew they could write these lyrics... I think the pandemic has given artists the time to explore and improve... don't get me wrong... I really loved Imploding the Mirage.. so fun, so many great catchy tunes... but this album is intense and beautiful and I have been listening daily since I got it...

I certainly had a few jaw drop moments when I first listened to this album yesterday. Brandon appears to have a deep emotional connection to this material and for obvious reasons.

By their own admission they are hugely influenced by Springsteen, and you can certainly tell.

But Flowers writes on a whole new cerebral level than The Boss. Not that I do not listen to The River and Jersey Girl about 50 times in a row at times.

Really powerful performance, every song hits a heart string. Can't think of many bands that are as good live as them. Wow, just wow. So happy they did The Getting By, it's so relevant and maybe my favourite on the album, although Runaway Horses is vying for the top spot.

This version of "Quiet Town" really brings out the poignancy of the song. I can really hear a Springsteen influence in it.

Soooo good. I do wish they had a bass though instead of 3 guitars because the bass lines on this album are really good at keep the song moving.
