I’m living in London nowadays but when I hear this song it brings tears to my eyes and makes me so emotional and proud at the same time if ever there was a song that represented S.A at that time it’s this. Listening to this transports me back to a happier time , a care free time.

I was about 2 years old when this song came out. It was so famous in my country; Malawi, our neighbour played it so much and now I'm 24 and remember it from my very infant childhood

This is the song that got me to learn piano/keyboard and music in general. A friend of mine while doing grade8 took me to one of our school mates house after school, he didn't say what we were going to do there, as we entered the house, I heard Shibobo playing, I thought it was radio playing, to my surprise when we entered his room, here was a dude sitting in front of a keyboard playng shibobo, oh man I was hooked. This guy's were making hip hop beats using a keyboard, this is before we even learned FL studio years later. Fillowing year I bought myself an old Korg keyboard from a school mate, learned to play on my own, then learned FL studio when I went to university while studying computer science, later I learned to play guitar. All of this inspiration started from this song Shibobo.

I just noticed that this song has a Log drum which is currently used in Amapiano 😯🔥🔥🔥🔥

I have looked for this song for over 10 years. I didn't know the artist, what I remembered was my older sister (now the Late) who said Beni Macarthy was in there juggling. That was 2000 I guess. But I remembered the beat so vividly. And now here I am. 😊 God is good. I can even see McCarthy in the video. 🤔 The memories we carry as we grow. 🙏

Tkzee, Trompies, Alaska, Boom Shaka make the 90's culture memorable even today. To this day I don't think any of the 20th century years have anything that the 90's had but more problems. We had a vote & freedom in the 90's, music to go with it, culture, expression, identity, ambition, love, Christmas, New Year, education that worked and children that listened.. fast forward that is all gone. I pitty the kids that missed out on the 90's because it was a blast never to be seen ever again, the 20th century came and took all of it including people that are leaving the planet like no one's business.. people never died like this in the 90's.
