The guitar in The Hateful Eight was loaned to them by Martin Guitars which started in 1833. Their custom shop had also produced several replicas of the guitar that were meant to be swapped out for the smashing scene. I absolutely love The Hateful Eight, but as a guitarist, knowing that an invaluable piece of guitar history was destroyed in that scene makes me die a little on the inside.

@@Joesmoothdog A period correct Martin is a little more important than a vintage Les. It's important to remember that when an actor improvises a line that makes the other characters laugh, in nearly all cases, they have to shoot the other characters' laughter in a follow-up shot, setting up the camera to shoot in the opposite direction, changing lighting, etc. -- so the reaction to ad-libbed lines is usually not happening at the same time as the ad-lib (except in the case of a 2-shot or wide shot).

Definitely NOT FAKE. John Cleese told how this came to be; they had a very low budget for the movie, and were running out fast. When this scene was going to be recorded, they told they extras they had to keep a straight face, or they wouldn't GET PAID (not fired)... They told them it was crucial for them not to laugh "because it was a serious scene"... 🤪 And then they proceeded to try and get them to break (...for comedy, but also for financial purposes :)) The coconuts instead of horses were also because of budget restraints - renting so many horses was too expensive, and the coconuts proved to be funnier anyway. There's several interviews (on youtube, even) in which John Cleese mentions these things. And I believe there is a longer video where they describe the process of making the entire movie Look up a couple interviews - you'll see. I forget which exact interviews, but the ones by Conan, Graham Norton, Steven Colbert are worth watching either way

@@orionred2489 I guess nowadays armies which are not currently in a war, have the luxury to better screen their soldiers for mental abilities or lack of them. We are still in the process in learning how the brain works. Just this year i saw one science news that layed out how newly found parts of brain cells were researched and how many more things they still don't understand about the brain. There are also quantum effects being researched now that take place in the brain. I don't really know this stuff in detail, just heared about it. I just remembered because back then it gave me the chuckles as i was just then in a debate with a transhumanist who claimed how easy it would be to up- and download ourselves one day onto chips. Besides that there are signs pointing to materials used may have effects on the entity, meaning it makes a difference of the nature of the beast of it is based on carbon or silicon, biological or inorganic. Which would lead to a change in persona due to the transfer from one medium to another. So whatever was downloaded will not be the same entity after it is uploaded again. Anyways :)

Remember, he potentially had that misdiagnosed brain issue, making it hard for him to possibly control his emotions, string of thought, and or sense of reality, so, in a way, you're partially right possibly, but at the same time, it woukd almost be like an accident if he wasn't in a coherent leveled state of mind, i am just talking out of my ass technically...only pulling from bits and pieces I've heard...so let me know what you think, but it's definitely a tragedy and a significant loss to our universe! Good luck to us all, and I hope everyone keeps their senses of humor 😁
