Hey dude. Totally understand the perspective. This has been a nearly two year battle and the channel has been fairly inactive during that time. The compounded effect of not working + medical bills + trying to sustain a team easily puts things into the $200-300K world. I let go of the team, office sold almost all gear to keep things a float. This was truly last resort and it burned my soul to ask. The biggest point of this video wasn’t asking for help for the fire and debt behind me. I know I can work hard and get out of it, I just needed this help to get from point A to point B

@@randomrazrhe summarized it pretty well in the video. He had shingles and it spread to his eye and brain impacting certain nerves that your brain needs to function. He also had herniated discs in his back that caused pain from his upper back to eye.

I was also diagnosed withwith keratoconus. I went into depression when I found it but im better now.

I really know how you feel? I have keratoconus and I have terrible distortion in my left eye. Obviously I don’t have something as severe as you do, but I think I have a general understanding of what it feels like to not be able to see well no matter what you do.

As i listened to your video, it reminded me of how my patients feel after a concussion, when they describe being behind a brain fog. The eye issues generally are not picked up by family doctors/neurologist/optometrist. I'm glad that you did end up finding the right care, but for anyone who is struggling with similar issues, please look for a neuro optometrist as they have gone through further training and into this niche field.

Start telling this story to people you know - you will find out soooo many people have had extremely unhelpful or even incapable medical professionals in their lives. I nearly died due to very similar story to Jonathan's where I just got passed around to different "specialists" who all misdiagnosed me. Once I got a referral to Mayo Clinic, they had my diagnosis in 24 hours and it only took that long because they had to wait for test results, the doctor pretty much knew what it was just from talking to me but needed to confirm. If I hear of a friend having medical difficulties beyond basic flu, cold, etc, I always tell them to get a second opinion (if they can afford it) or go somewhere that specializes in what you think your problem might be. Absolutely do not wait around if you are not getting answers from your local doctors - there's a good chance they don't know what they are doing.

Modern health system in a nutshell, why even bother having universal healthcare if this is the result of what you get

@@usernameluis305 this is america. part of the issue is that doctors dont want to put their patients into debt and they have a lot of control over what tests are ordered. countries with universal healthcare have pipelines and tests where if you meet the criteria you get the MRI or X-Ray or whatever the diagnostic tool is.

I know this is a valid point and true all around, HOWEVER, mind you, there are many people who are very demanding and want very specific diagnostics that are unwarranted from a professional standpoint. It's understandable that everyone with a pimble wants to rule out it's cancer with an MRI (hyperbole to make a point), but THAT is only possible if everyone is willing to pay that out of his own pocket and not from the insurance money. Also mind you, there is a reality of overdiagnosing things and that's especially true for the case of the MRI. Radiologists need to make MRIs to pay off the debt of buying the machines, they'll do anything you want: if you pay. When you look with the MRI, a figurate and literal maginifying glass on the body, you'll always find something. Most things are better left untouched. Especially when it comes to the back. There are thousands of uncessary back suergeries and they all start with someone getting an MRI, that shows some disc herniations. Which are completely normal at a certain age and getting surgery in most cases makes nothing better and often worse.

@@maxmeier532 so, you wrote a wall of text and somehow completely missed the point. The doctor dismissed him and he got aggressive and frustrated when his practices didn’t work. It has nothing to do with an MRI. But even if, some doctors told him that’s all in his head. That’s crazy gaslighting.

He got frustrated for a reason tho. Asking the same thing and expecting a cure magically is not what the doctor can give. You have to have basic understanding of medicine to get this. This is coddling behavior.

I got an MRI after 4 years and a change of doctor later for bulging disks (in Canada). "You're young you'll heal" was the first doctors whole diagnosis

​@@kindaFunkyNGLI had the exact same experience for my herniated and bulging discs (in USA). Only gave me a physical and misdiagnosed it as a hamstring strain for 3 years before they'd allow me an MRI scan. The age-based discrimination certainly extends towards the younger side as well.
