Release Date : September 19, 2023
"This is primarily a graphics hack of the classic TMNT game for the NES.
Most of the attract screens and cutscenes have been redrawn using imagery from the 1989 arcade game.
The ending has been completely redrawn using images of characters found in the first few episodes of the cartoon.
Custom sprites were created for April, Splinter, Bebop, Rocksteady, Foot Soldiers (over world and in levels), Mousers, and the Party Wagon."
"The patch also corrects errors left in the original game, to include:
Fixing Rocksteady’s run cycle.
Fixing Raphael’s over world sai.
Correcting misplaced background tiles in some levels.
Editing Splinter and the Captured Turtle sprites so they no longer flicker
Edits some levels to make some of the more notorious jumps a bit less annoying. and, thanks to Displaced Gamers, makes the swimming level a bit less annoying by editing the turtle’s hit boxes and allowing them to swim downward, making the level much easier to navigate."

Finally, someone who appreciates this game. Sure, it had its flaws, but all these dorks on KZfaq will believe the word of a certain nerd on here, saying this game sucks. It was a great game that was very unique.

You should try the trilogy TMNT games on the original Gameboy. They resemble this. The third one "TMNT III: The Radical Rescue" might be Konami's first true metroidvania long before Symphony of the Night. It's a pretty cool game from what I've seen.

@GunnerGG Ok I'll forgive Castlevania 2, but I draw the line with not counting The Goonies 2. USA actually got that and not the other 6 games part of the Wai Wai series. I also must mentioned that, yes, this game was featured in movie "The Wizard", and was played by actor "Beau Bridges", who made a comment about the "scroll weapon". Why is this important, because that weapon is found on area 3, but this game is infamous for the dam level being too tough. That is in area 2, yet he made zero mentioning about it. It's almost like it wasn't even hard....

I assumed that maybe it would be overhauled, and levels would be...in Texas. As in maybe the Foot decided to pull something off in Dallas or San Antonio, but the Turtles heard, and followed them. Maybe you'd even get to explore the basement of the Alamo! *laughs*

@@the-NightStar The only comparable one is Return to New York, which has similar changes and bug fixes to TE and is of equal quality. All others are graphic hacks, or completely edit the levels to make for a new experience (in a couple of cases, without gameplay adjustments and bug fixing).

My inner gaming pragmatist cried a little watching you burn through scrolls in Area 3. 😅 You made it through the game just fine, though. Interesting hack of TMNT (_especially_ April 😉), though I would've let Shredder keep his Mirage colors. Mirage Shredder was more badass than '87 Shredder, IMO.

Whoever design that electric algae part in the water stage, deserves to rot in hell, I think I could've passed that stage around 5 times but with one or two turtles tops and one hit away from dying.

I tried a project like this once, but all I did was update the graphics for the turtles and Shredder. If you want those sprite sheets, please let me know, because I'm not really doing anything with them at this point anyway.

Игра мне понравилась,я в своё время тоже её проходил,мне больше нравилось плавать в воде и отключать бомбы,помню когда я дрался со Шреддером то попал под луч его бластера и превратился в обычную черепашку и мне пришлось начинать уровень с начала,но когда я дошё до Шреддера я его всё таки побил.

April's sprite is curvier, a random Texas flag in the "Splinter is taken" cutscene, Shredder is in his cartoon look, Rocksteady and Bebop are on the TV message after Splinter is kidnapped.

Not bad. I'd like to see the April sprite from when she's tied up and released worked on a bit more. Maybe a bit taller and slimmer, less like a daytime hooker. 😅 Also, I love how in some places the enemies were changed to reflect the more TMNT world accurate goons. More of that. The more the better. The random nonsense enemies always bothered me. I mean you can pass some of them off as maybe Dimension X creatures in the later stages, but chainsaw guy, big wierd bugs? With so many bad guys in TMNT to use original developers really dropped the ball.

The dam part is literally one of the easiest parts of the game. You don't even have to try to get through it. Pick a turtle and plow through it until your energy gets low, then switch turtles. Problem solved. You won't kill all four and you can replenish your energy for all of the turtles on the next stage by going in and out of the same place and collecting the same pizza until you're all good. The only thing that seems to make this part hard for people is the odd lack of realization that you can switch turtles on the dam stage at any time you like.

the dam was recut its hardest the plant at the end of level you was enough close to get you it got to take you down, sorry my bad english, this game was my favorite of the turtles when child: you can play with all of them, you must explore, use vehicles, swing many variations of enemies great music and intro, the rest of game beatem up the same enemy diferent color, very simple

I get that some people have problems with the Dam/Water section, but I literally NEVER did. Even as an 8-year-old in 1989, with a regular NES controller, I could get through with perhaps two hits. As an adult with an XBOX-style controller, I can get a no-hit about half the time. A _lot_ of it is just getting in the mindset that you have a hitbox the size of a skyscraper, the rest is dealing with "hazard gravity" (the tendency of some Hazards to pull you towards them), and using it to your advantage.

yup it's easy. also u can change between 4 turtles so it makes it 4x easier

@@necrosadotor As someone down further in the comments noted, I do similarly. Leonardo for the stages, Raph and Mike for the overworld, Donatello for the bosses. Mikey does the Dam/Water section, just in case I have a bad run for some reason.
