Wow never thought of sharpening pizza cutters. I own UltraSharp& Snipaway and sharpen just about everything from lawn mower blades, Circular saw blades, and Drill bits to high-end stylist scissors and Groomer shears. There are quite a bit of Pizza businesses in my area so thanks a lot for the idea and your demonstration

Cutco knives out of olean ny makes an amazing pizza cutter. A little pricey but there's a lifetime guarantee on them

Just a guess, because I don't really know, but I'm guessing those pizza cutter blades aren't tempered very much if at all. (I have one like the one to the far left when you had them laid side by side.) And you are right, the round blade may be more useful than just for cutting pizzas :) I'll have to see how that works for me, using it for other cutting jobs. Thanks for your video. :)

You're welcome! Thanks for your comment. I'd love to see a high end pizza cutter, but for most I suspect you're right.

I just did this! I did take it off and put it on an arbor mounted to my drill press, lowest speed. Then use a hard wood blocks with different grits working up to a honing stone. I was surprised you did not talk about what people are using to cut the pizza on to cut ???? What the blades are made of if you know? Would be interesting as your comment at the end about high grade pizza cutterS, or maybe there should be some. Also about using it for cutting other things. I think that is a great idea and very pratical application. I was also thinking it a self healing cutting mat would be a good copying mat for this vs a wood board. I have just converted to a rotary cutter to cut my rags up vs scissors. I find the rotory cutter much more patical and efficient. Also a feather touch is all that's need to make the cut! Nice work. I have 5 kids and I use a pizza cutter a lot. Mostly for the little kids food. French toast, eggs, waffles, hotdogs, fruit, spaghetti, just to name a few. I do not have a good one. I'm probably on my 3rd or 4th one through my 20 years of marriage. I touch it up by the 1x30 600 grit that's been used a lot. I don't go for razor-sharp either. I will have to try it on the Tormek. Are you finding you are using your Tormek T8 more and more?

Great examples of ways to use the pizza cutter! Thanks for that! Yeah, as the edge rolls over I could see just a quick spin on the 1x30 brings it back to as good as it needs to be. Regarding the Tormek, I'm not sure, I'm fortunate to have a lot of tools and I love trying new things so I kinda feel that way with all the tools I have. Thanks for being here, Tim, appreciate you!

How about the 1x30 and then the paper wheels? My best results have been on the 1x30 and then the medium and fine belts on the Work Sharp. Sounds like it was about the same results. Meh. But the cutter is not a precision tool. Any thoughts on what to charge?

Dangnabit! I forgot about the paper wheels! Now I'm curious though because that one is spinning at 3400 RPM, which might be a little sketchy, or it might be the fastest method yet! As far as the price, somewhere in the $5 to $7 range. What do you think?
@DougAgee
@DougAgee 4 жыл бұрын
Matthew Rowell I think you are spot on with the price. I consider replacement price and try to land in about the 40% of replacement range.
@makenchips

@@DougAgee I disagree on using % value as a price on replacement cost since this is such an in accurate value as compaire to average of your time and equipment cost and fixed cost you as an owner has! The only true was is to do your home work, which would be fair to both parties yourself and your customer! You need data and factual info otherwise your doing a disservice!

Would you consider offering constructive feedback in a considerate way? I'm curious what your method is but not if you're a dick about it.
