I have to say as someone who has watched every single part of your STO series, you do an amazing job bringing things together into a coherent story. I'm a long time trek fan and while I never played this game myself, this series has been extremely entertaining. I can look past whatever graphical glitches, lip sync issues, or bugs that may occur because I'm enjoying the journey. Sure, maybe the core story has issues at times, but to me, these episodes have crafted an enjoyable star trek experience. One that, quite frankly, goes way beyond the 'trek' we have gotten lately. I only wish that influence would spread back to tv and give us a proper Star Trek series. Thanks for all the work you do to bring these episodes to us. It's a bright spot in a gloomy time for many of us Star Trek fans.

I think that with the death of M'Tara, the Iconian strategy ends up disorganized. While large scale conflicts severely drain the resources and cost the lives of the Alliance factions, small scale conflicts start to turn up a lot more survivors and equipment left both intact and functional. The Alliance is forced to fight smarter, and T'Ket's strategies, as we saw with her own duel with Kahless, are subject to arrogance in thinking. It is unfortunate that the Dominion hasn't, or won't step in just because the threat isn't on their doorstep, the Alliance would probably have the upper hand if they did.

quite surprised the Borg, Species 8472 nor the Tholians didn't get involved! Why not?
@FusionArmorX
@FusionArmorX 4 жыл бұрын
@@Tonydjjokerit Speculating, but the Borg, we can just assume are biding their time or are recovering from what was (in universe) the relatively recent thrashing the Collective took at the hands of 8472. Maybe there's also something about Iconian constructs that they can't simply assimilate considering the constructs' nature as pure energy. They'd probably need a full Herald or an Iconian to do so. The Iconians seem pretty well equipped to remodulate their ship weapons on a whim, plus their unique use of Gateway technology would probably leave them capable of overwhelming any Drones they dealt with. Species 8472 doesn't really go out of their way to bother with anybody unless they're provoked first. They're also easily manipulated, as back during the Borg episodes, it was said that the Iconians were using fake Federation and Klingon ships to make 8472 go on the offensive. 8472 probably wouldn't take a stand unless Iconian ships jumped into fluidic space themselves and started shooting. As well, the Tholians are usually pretty xenophobic as a race. They'd only ever jump in to the fight when the Iconian forces encroached on Tholian territory. Otherwise, the Iconian war is something that doesn't concern them. Even then, if the Tholians were to get involved, I don't think their tactics would be of much help to the Alliance, as their main weapons on ground are radiation-based ground weapons, and Tetryon-based space weapons with some power level draining effects. All three would also have to face the fact that the Iconians have what is virtually an unlimited fleet of ships and unlimited ground troops at their disposal. The Borg may adapt but it would likely be too late, 8472 would probably just stay in fluidic space, and the Tholians would be easily eradicated.

This mission was a mess: throwing an entire combined fleet against an enemy with a vast numerical advantage as a _distraction_ while your elite forces try to capture the vessel acting as a hub. The fleet's only purpose was to hold the Iconians' attention, so they could have pulled back for repairs as needed. Instead, we can infer they got overwhelmed by the Iconians and were destroyed with almost all hands on board. Naturally after that the Alliance would not have the resources for any further fleet actions. Which begs the question: how could they expect to respond at all if the Iconians retaliated by attacking any Alliance world? They already attacked and nearly took New Romulus, and Earth has a history of nearly falling in _STO_ . I do understand that Kagran wanted to hold the Iconians' attention so Nog could focus on the Krenim timeship, however there had to be a better way. One that prevented such heavy losses. Like harrying the Iconians with special task forces of five or so vessels that would warp away as soon as the Iconians brought pressure down on them. That could extend the Alliance forces and prevent losses. But I guess the writers wanted to make sure the player knew how bad the war was costing everyone, so they have you fly through a ship graveyard while your BOFFs talk about their lost friends.

Considering that the Alliances only victories seem to come from the Federation (Delta Flight) maybe we should keep the blood knight Klingons from making the Alliance strategy.
@BNuts
@BNuts 4 жыл бұрын
@@nathanielheilmann7351 Sometimes the Klingons can surprise, though. The intel that Delta Flight used for their successful operation came through House Pegh, after all. Not that you heard it from me. A strategy that could win the war for the Alliance, though? That would have to be extremely unconventional, as the Iconians hold pretty much every advantage, from numbers to power. In the minds of those in command, the Krenim timeship is that strategy, however how many times does time travel go wrong in _Trek_ , vs how many times it goes as planned? So if not time travel, what would that leave? The Iconians were not of the mind to negotiate even before M'Tara's loss. Now they're pissed off enough to simply keep pressing their attack. And the Iconians themselves do not need to take the battlefield, exposing themselves to surgical strikes. Fortunately or unfortunately the Alliance has members who do not know when or how to give up. All life in the entire galaxy is at stake here. So where, in all this, is the Delta Alliance the player spent an entire season building to fight the Vaaduar?

All Leeta says is something about help from the Temporal Resistance morons - they're a pretty pathetic bunch in terms of brute strength. The only thing we see is a couple of pretty ships and Leeta with a tenuous connection to the Pah Wraith. None of that could have wiped out the Iconians. In Trek time travel shenanigans result in push back to put everything back the way it was so they couldn't have been erased. So again - legit question, although the answer is "plot hole" in the finest Trek tradition. My speculation is that shifting the Iconians just a little in time is enough to kill them so they used an Omega particle powered temporal device to shift huge sections of space a fraction of a second back in time.
